Do I Have An Ed?
Posted: 12-06-05 17:46pm

Okay so I would like to know if I have an eating disorder.
- I throw up food if I think it had too many calories for my body to consume
- I get mad at my self for eating all the food on my plate
- I nevr eat desert anymore... I feel guilty if I have somthing that is remoly close to what we call desert.
- I count calories and grams of fat all the time
- I exersice everynight I am run all the time and do core and weights and I get mad at myself and feel instantly fat if I don't exersice.
- I weigh and measasure myslef at least 5-6 days a week

does this sound I like I am anoexic or bulimic?

Thanks soo much

Tennisgirl17-
it sounds to me like you are bulimic because I do many of the same things you do and i'm bulimic.
I throw up food if I have had too many calories for one day. I constantly count calories and worry about eating desert or too much food. I weigh myself everyday and feel awful if my weight changes by more than 2 pounds. I'm not as "bad" as some other bulimics are and it doesn't sound like you are as severe either, but i've learned that it is still a problem and it still is an eating disorder.

This is what I found out about bulimia:
bulimia, also called bulimia nervosa, is a psychological eating disorder. Bulimia is characterized by episodes of binge-eating followed by inappropriate methods of weight control (purging). Inappropriate methods of weight control include vomiting, fasting, enemas, excessive use of laxatives and diuretics, or compulsive exercising. Excessive shape and weight concerns are also characteristics of bulimia. A binge is an episode where an individual eats a much larger amount of food than most people would in a similar situation. Binge eating is not a response to intense hunger. It is usually a response to depression, stress, or self esteem issues. During the binge episode, the individual experiences a loss of control. However, the sense of a loss of control is also followed by a short-lived calmness. The calmness is often followed by self-loathing. The cycle of overeating and purging usually becomes an obsession and is repeated often.

People with bulimia can look perfectly normal. Most of them are of normal weight, and some may be overweight. Women with bulimia tend to be high achievers.

It is often difficult to determine whether a person is suffering from bulimia. This occurs because binging and purging is often done in secret. Also, individuals suffering from bulimia often deny their condition.

But just to be sure you need to sonsult a doctor.
Hope this helps

Okay that helps but hmmmmm. I thought I may have one but I can't contact a doctor right now becsau then my parents would find out becasue I recently saw the doctor so I will wait then make a phyical appointment and then talk to a doctor but I guess the truth is I really don't want a doctor to help I want to be thinner and I am scared the doctor will tell me to gain weight. But I guess this is taking the first step is knowing I have a problem right?

Yes, you have a serious problem. You have both anorexia and bulimia!
Get some help or you'll go too far with this & wind up in the hospital with tubes coming out of you everywhere. Is this what you want? You are going to make your life a living hell if you don't get a handle on this problem girl!
