Could Cord Blood Banking Help Our Family? Posted: 12-07-05 20:23pm
Hi, I have a cousin, sarah, who has
leukemia. She is a little girl, only 4
years old. Currently, I am pregnant with
my first child. I have heard about cord
blood stem cells, which could help treat
her disease. And cord blood banking. My
doctor told me that I should consider
banking my baby’s cord blood in hopes of
curing sarah from leukemia.
I need some advice. Has anyone banked
their cord blood? Are their any
recommendations on which bank to use?
Honestly, can the stem cells treat her
disease? Do you know of any personal
stories of a situation similar to this
that turned out positive? Any responses
would be greatly appreciated.
I want to help her out so much and if
i’m in the position that I can, I will.
Not only am I excited to have this baby,
i’m also excited to help cure sarah.
Thank you to everyone in advance for your
help.

Hi,
when I was pregnant with my 2nd son I knew
that I was going to bank my baby’s cord
blood because my first son has aml. It
was not difficult for me to decide whether
I was going to bank, but what company I
was going to use. After doing a lot of
online research I decided to bank with
cbr.
As a public service they have a program
called dtp, designated transplant program.
Cbr banked it for free! No charge!
Dtp is a program that covers the cost of
banking and storage in the case that there
is an immediate need. This is for a
family member diagnosed with a
life-threatening disease treated by stem
cells. This is regardless of your
financial situation, but if you meet a
certain medical criteria. Which I think
you do!
I think you should definitely look into
it. I recommend cbr, they were really
helpful, nice, and followed up with us.
Dtp is something that you should look
into, www.Cordblood.Com/dtp.
Good luck with everything!
Congratulations on your baby and it’s a
wonderful thing that you are willing to
help your cousin out! Nothing like
family! :p
