Medicaid And Ultrasound Question Posted: 12-09-05 09:46am
I have only had one ultrasound, and still
do not know the sex of my baby. The one I
did have wasn't supposed to have happened.
I have a cyst on my left ovary. I was
supposed to have gotten a sonogram
(internal wand), but the tech couldn't see
anything, so had to do a regular
ultrasound. Since I was only 15 weeks at
the time, it was still too early to tell
what the sex was. Plus the baby kept
squirming all around, not letting the tech
get a good shot between the legs.
My regular doc was out on her own
maternity leave. I saw a practitioner. I
asked if at my next appointment if I would
get a ultrasound to look at the baby,
since I would be almost 20 weeks. She
said since I already had one that day that
I wouldn't, because medicaid only pays for
one.
My sis-in-law, who had complications, said
medicaid would pay for as many as are
needed, depending on how it is coded.
Since my first ultrasound was to look at
the cyst and not the baby, then I should
be able to get another one specifically to
look at the baby.
Anyone else know anything about how
ultrasounds with medicaid work? We really
want to know the sex of the baby, and I
would lik for my husband an daughter to be
able to see an ultrasound.

As long as the dr orders the ultrasound,
it should be covered. Everything should
be covered:)

Woohoo! I just got back from the
doctor's. My regular doctor is back. I
get to have another ultrasound to look at
the baby friday, december 16th. I can't
wait! My hubby will be able to be there,
as well as my daughter if she wishes.
Hopefully we will be able to tell girl or
boy. We are hoping for a boy, but as long
as we have a healthy baby.
