Lexapro/wellbutrin Posted: 12-10-05 15:48pm
Hi! I used to take zoloft for depression
years ago and tolerated it well. I
stopped when I felt better. Cannot
recall if this helped with anxiety.
Now, I have been on lexapro for panic
disorder for a few years, and it has held
well. My Dr. Is cautious about side
effects (those with panic do not need side
effects!) so she had me start slowly:
2.5mg for 5 days, 5mg for 5 days, 7.5mg
for 5 days and 10mg for 3 days 12.5mg for
3 days, 15mg for 3 days and 20mg for 3
days. I had no strong side effects. 20
is the therapeutic dose, and all that
insurance will usually pay for. It is
not unusual to need to go higher, and I
have done so. I also used small amounts
of ativan as needed during the time it
took for the lexapro to kick in.
The anxiety is under control now, but I
have gone into depression, which leaked
through the lexapro. I added wellbutrin
xl and it was a risk, because my Dr. Said
she doesn't normally prescribe wellbutrin
to those with anxiety. I can tolerate
the 150mg which has energized me, but the
300mg is way too much and I get very
anxious and jittery. So it seems you
discovered the same?
I have had a good experience with lexapro,
which is supposed to have low side
effects.
