a Faint Line On Hpt....help!
Posted: 12-10-05 14:30pm

I am due to start my period 12/12. I took a test 2 days ago and it came out negative. I just took one this morning it was negative....So I thought. I waited about 5 minutes after I peed...It was negative. I took it out of the trash 15 minutes later....And there was a faint line. I mean faint...You can only see it if you hold it up close. Can leaving it sit for too long make it inaccurate?

The true reading is the one within the time frame given on the instructions. Most likely it was a evaporation line.

Designergal- we've been replying to eachother and you finally took a test! Well...The first hpt I took was the ept and after the correct and given time frame the ygive you either 3 or 5 mins. I looked at mine and I it had a faint pos. Too. You waited and looked after 15 mins. So im not sure but I did a lot of research and many, many sites and women who noticed/got this have become pregnant and even a hpt brand quoted "any + sign is positive no matter how faint" "there are hardly any false +" so in my opinion you are pregnant

congrats..But you'll just have to wait and see.

With me, I also took first responce after to make sure and I got a big neg:o( but what hpt did you use?

I went ot the docs and it was neg..They "highly think I am pregnant, they need me to come back in 2 weeks if I dont have my period" i've been feeling prego for a few weeks so idk if I am or not cuz I thoguht youd be able to tell if im a few weeks??

But it still isnt here and I have all the prego symptoms..

Hey stephie! Yeah I am really confused right now. I bought another test and will take it tomorrow morning. The brand I have been buying is a generic brand of ept...Still $10 a test! I read the directions after I posted and it said "do not interrprut results after 10 min." so, I am trying not to get my hopes up!

So did the doctor give you a blood test or a pee test? So weird that theirs came out negative even though you have all the symptoms and you are late. I would still say that you are preg! Keep me posted!

When I went to the womans clinic to get a urine test done and it came up with a really faint line after quite a while, she said it was because I was prob so earlie in my pregnancy (bout 5 wks she said) and may also be because it was in the afternoon. Best time is to take a test in the morning?
But if theres a faint line it must be positive.
Hopefully you are.
Gob bless.

The urine test at the dr is the same ones we take. It can take up to 7 weeks pregnant before positive will actually show. My daughter and myself both the same way. One dr even made me try and have a period(gave me a shot) with my youngest--cuz I was only 5 weeks and hpt did not show, and no results when doing pelvic either. I went back in 2 weeks, he says "yes your 7 weeks preg."

Well they told me to come back in 2 weeks. Said I could have gotten pregnant in nov. B/c my period is late and it might not be able to read it...Too early?

But today I got random spotting again. Chances are it is my period with my luck..If tomorrow I have my period im going to see how things go.

I have 2 friends who were late, took hpt n went to the doctors, all showed up neg. And were pregnant. One even got her periods and turned out she was 2 months after

ill see...I really doubt it now though, good luc kt oeveryone else though.

Symptoms are frustrating. Be patient. :)

When I took my pregnancy test there was a faint line aswell, it was because I wasnt that far along, I then waited 4 days, took another one and it came out much darker.

Im not sure about if you leave it somewhere & it changes. I still have both of my pregnancy tests as im putting them in the baby book, and they havent changed 1 bit since I first got them?

So I took another one this morning and after 5 minutes I could see a faint line again. It was kind of greyish at first....But then turned pink later. I wish these darn things could be easier to read! I think my odds of getting 2 bum tests in a row are low. We will see! Gotta get a blood test now..

If you had any kind of line within the reading time then you're probably pregnant.
