I was pregnant for 13 weeks before I told
anyone in my family. My husband and I
were the only ones that knew. I had the
parents and grandparent gather around for
a pic on thanksgiving and that when I told
them, my digital camera has video on it
they thought we were taking a pic when we
were shooting video and I said "are you
all ready??? They said yeah I said i'm
pregnant!!!" and there was like 30 seconds
of silence and a whole lotta jaw dropping,
it was great!!!!
So, yeah i'd wait til christmas it's only
13 days away!!!

I was nervous to tell people when I found
out I was preggy cause I had miscarried
twice before. Hubby knew of course and
people at work cause I was the barfing
queen, but the way I told my mom and
step-dad was I sent them grandma and
grandpa ornaments for christmas time (i
was 3 months at x-mas). It's really up
to u when you want to tell people some
tell right away and others wait to get
past the "danger" stage (1st tri). Why
is your first appt so far away?

I found out on the 8th, and my hubby and I
are definately telling at christmas. It
is early, but it seems like the perfect
time to do it, especially since we will
have the family all together ( his sister,
my best frined will be home from arizona).
We are going to hand out little presents
containg these little plastic bottles with
pacifier candies and nametags reading the
person's new "title" for ex: auntie
meghan. Then have them all open them at
the same time. Should make for lots of
screaming and jumping up and down. I was
also lucky enough to get into my obgyn
office by the 21rst, so I will gt checked
out before we tell. ( have to see a nurse
midwife instead of the ob dr, but
otherwise I would be waiting till mid
january, and being my first baby, I dont
want to wait that long! I am nervous
enough waiting another week!!!

I found out sept 10th 2004 and my family
and friends knew that week. That just
isn't something I could keep secret!!
But....Many woman wait until week 13, the
start of the 2nd trimester since the risk
of miscarriage is greatest in the 1st
trimester.
Good luck and congrats!

I could never wait till the second
trimester! I am horrible at keeping
secrets, especially when everyone knows we
were trying! I have only gone to visit my
parents once since I found out because I
am afraid i'll slip!
I donr understand why people wait, if god
forbid, something did go wrong, wouldnt
they want the support of friends and
family?

It has been a week now and it's like I won
the lotto, but cannot tell anyone. There
is no way I can wait till the 2nd tri. I
think if anything would happen I would
want more support from my family and
friends.

It just kills me to wait. With my current
pregnancy, I was able to keep it a secret
until I was about 6wks or so. And then I
just had to tell them because that morning
I found out I was having twins (after
already having 3 single children). There
was no way I could keep that to myself -
& before long they would be able to
see it for themselves:)
.Christmas will be a great time to spread
the happy news! It's so exciting:)

I remember the 6 miscarriages and the
trying to keep it a secret until 3 months.
Cuz they say after 3 months it's a
better chance not to miscarry.
But it is really hard keeping a secret
from those closest to you like mom, and
brothers and sisters.
I dont think it really works, it's just an
old wives tale, right??
