What are the chances (vaguely) of a
54-year-old woman, who has irregular
periods (4 to 6 months without one, then
can go 2 or 3 months with light ones), who
had sex one time halfway through her cycle
and took the plan b "morning after" pills,
of being pregnant? Would you say the
chances are pretty slim?
I have heard that a woman has to wait at
least until the day or day after her
period is missed before she can use a home
pregnancy test. But when they aren't
"regular" in the first place, it would be
hard to tell if it is missed because of
perimenopause or because of pregnancy.
Does perimenopause cause hormone
imbalances that could give a false reading
on a test?

Did you take the test after the plan b?
How long after? How long ago was this,
and are you having pregnancy symptoms.
No I dont think perimenopause would cause
false positive.

No, didn't take the home test yet. It
isn't time for my period until dec. 16 or
17, but they are traditionally late
anyway. It's been almost 2 weeks since
the "episode." just didn't know about
fertility levels when a woman is having
very irregular, light periods before
menopause sets in.

Yeah, me either. I was just curious if
you have had symptoms, and if you did plan
b like yesterday it could still show
positive on hpt if you had done one yet.
I think it would be cool for you to be
pregnant--but I guess that is just me. I
am 44 and 24 weeks pregnant--with what
.God told me is "a miracle baby" he told
me of it 18 years ago. For I had my
uterus removed 19 years ago.

Ok, it is now january 8 and still no
period. But I have taken two tests with
ept sticks and both came up negative. But
I am still wondering if being
perimenopausal can cause hormone changes
that would cause a false negative result.
'cause like I said, my periods have been
very irregular, so even if I go another
couple of months without one isn't
unusual, even if I didn't have any sex.
Also, that plan b stuff doesn't seem good
enough. Can't california people get a
hold of the abortion pill like canadians
have access to? What a gyp. When is it
considered too late to take one of those?
I am getting close to the edge mentally
here. Hmm, I see a previous post I made
was deleted. Great.
