Is There Sex After a Hystorectomy? Posted: 12-17-05 18:25pm
I am a 29 year old, single mother who at
the age of 25 had to have a complete
hystorectomy after finding out that there
were cancer cells present in my uterus.
After a complete and successful recovery,
I have found that I am unable to have a
healthy sex life. I have tried numerous
times only to find myself unable to
perform. On top of which I have had to
force myself to be with my partner. Is
this a common side effect and is there a
such thing as sex after a hystorectomy?

I'm not sure what you are saying.
Are you saying it is physically painful to
have sex or that you are just not
interested in sex anymore?
Did you keep your ovaries or cervix or did
you have everything removed?

I had a complete hystorectomy and now I
have no desire what so ever to have sex.
I'm not a doctor or anything, but i'm 29
and i'm not sure that's healthy-not to
have any kind of sex drive.

It's really common after a complete
hysterectomy.
If your ovaries were removed you have
nothing giving you hormones to have a sex
drive.
Best thing is to speak to your doctor or
gyn and enquire about types of hrt
available and if they would be suitable
for you.
Good luck hon
