First Trimester of Pregnancy Question Posted: 12-24-05 21:34pm
I am currently 5 weeks pg. I had my last
miscarriage on Oct 19th, 05
My question is, I know it is supposed to
be normal to feel period like cramps in
the first tri of pg. But my cramps started
yesterday. Yesterday they werent to bad
but they did last all day long, then today
they have gotten a little more painful but
come and go. have them more then not. I
have no spotting or anything. My last mc
started just like this, I had a few days
of cramping then I started to bleed and
mc. I do have a lot of pg symptoms with
this pg, nausea, sore breasts, hot
flashes, liagment streching. Which I didnt
have with the last one. I am on metaformin
which I started 500mg yesterday, and
prometrium 100mg started on Dec 20. On Dec
20 my beta level was 135 my progesterone
was 17 1/2 and on the 23 the beta was 445
and my progesterone was 47 which the dr.
said was a great start to this pg. With my
symptoms does anyone think I am ok or do I
need to go to the hospital and get
checked? Can they even tell me anything? I
think if I am going to miscarry it would
be nice to know its coming, and if not
going to miscarry it would be nice to
relax. What is your advice

A plausible cause for your previous
miscarriages could have been
POCS-Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. PCOS
might also cause miscarriage in this
pregnancy but it can’t be known until it
happens. Severe abdominal pain may suggest
that miscarriage will happen, but we can
never be sure. Laboratory analyses are an
accurate account at the time they are
adminstered but they are not
predictable-they can change. Vaginal
bleeding usually means miscarriage
(although not necessarily). There are
also miscarriages without bleeding,
“missed miscarriage”. An ultrasound
check and a hormonal analyses for
hCG(beta) and progesterone can tell you
more about your current status.
