Help For Long Term Hand, Wrist, And Now Arm Pain Posted: 12-27-05 10:43am
It was nearly a year ago when I thought I
had carpal tunnel syndrome in my right
wrist. I had an emg, x-rays, mris,
carpal tunnel surgery,
anti-inflammatories, a colonoscopy and
every blood test my network of doctors
could imagine. The pain, which started
as an ache in my wrist, now also involves
certain knuckles that hurt to touch,
shooting pains throughout my hands and
fingers - some quite severe, and a burning
in my arms. It has overtaken both
hands/wrists/arms. I cannot go more than
one hour awake without wearing wrist
braces on both arms. They help, very
slightly, manage the pain.
Most recently, I had an mri of the c spine
and bone scans of both hands. My Dr.
Agreed to send the results as reported to
him, but I don't see him for over a week.
I am in physical agony and need to know
now if the source of the problem is here.
Here is the report:
the mri of the cervical spine showed there
was a mild disc bulging with minimal
degree of ventral inpingment at c5-c6.
No disc herniation. There is
straightening of the normal curvature,
which is probably secondary spasm.
The bone scan - the study is somewhat
technically limited due to suboptimal
uptake of radiotracer throughout the bones
of the fingers and forearm. No focal
abnormalitity, however is seen. Please
note that although the reason for the
abnormal uptake in the bones may be
patient releated, we would be happy to
repeat this study at no additional charge
at a future date as clinically
warranted.
