First Trimester of Pregnancy Question Posted: 12-28-05 11:23am
Ok, Im pregnant, missed period and three
positive tests. Cycle always normal
28days.
My husband and I had sex the week of
Thanksgiving and on Nov. 27 I started my
period, i thought it was pretty normal.
On Dec. 9th-12th I was supposed to
ovulate.
We had sex on Thurs the 9th morning
Friday the 10th early evening
Sat the 11th late evening
On Friday the 10th around noon, i used an
ovulation stick, and a very faint line
appeared saying that i was getting close
or finishing ovulating.
On Sat. evening, i used another stick and
no line showed up at all.
Now, today is Dec. 28th, and I was just
wondering so I used a ovulation stick
again and two lines quickly appeared
saying that I am ovulating. Whats going
on, and do you know when I might have
conceived?
HELP
Thank you soo
much

Ovulation stick-tests rely on detecting
Luteinizing hormones (LH). LH levels
rapidly increases just before ovulation
occurs, thus a positive test around noon
on the 10th. LH levels then rapidly
decrease during ovulation, thus a negative
test on the evening of 11th.This means
that ovulation probably occurred somewhere
between the 10th and 11th and, most
likely, you conceived during that period.
Further, when a woman is pregnant, an
ovulation stick test is positive because
the test detects, not LH, but hCG (human
Choriongonadotrpin). hCG is produced by
the embryo. LH and hCG have very similar
structures and ovulation stick-tests are
not so specific as to recognize the
difference between them.
