What Can I Do to Help Myself? Posted: 12-29-05 14:56pm
I'm not sure what to do...I have read many
of these posts on people who have had or
think they have an eating disorder, I have
read so many clinical characteristic lists
and am very alarmed that I can tick so
many of them...This same time last year I
lost quite a lot of weight due to exam
stress and I slowly gained it again but I
can tell I have become obsessive. I am
aware I am not overweight but I feel like
I cannot detach myself and have always had
a drive for perfection; despite knowing
that eating nothing or very little harms
my body. I have helped many people with
eating problems and other disorders
associated with depression and am ashamed
I didn't see it creeping up on me. I
really do not want to confide in someone,
I know the great pain this can cause to
those close and I just want some advice,
things I can do myself that will stop this
being or becoming such a major part in my
life??

Hi ruby,
the obvious answer is to make sure you are
eating enough and proberly, I can stongly
say I have been batteling with bulimia for
12 years and it creeps up very slowly but
once it has you it is soo hard to get
out.
I would not wish it on my worst enemy.
There is noting wrong with speaking to
someone, I was ashemed for 10 years before
I got help and I wish I had done it
sooner.
If you really feel you are getting
obsessed with it ,stop it now before it
begins, we all have choices in life,
please don't choose ed, he's a huge pain
in the ass!!!
Take care love lisabeth

Hi well how do I stop, I have been in alot
of therapy, and have done alot of energy
healings, which I am currently studding,
which helped me more than anything.
The thing is I do believe if I had got it
when it first started I wouldn't have been
so hard to stop, I know where it leads to
feeling like crap all the time, you cant
function properly and you miss out on so
much in life. And the thing I hated was I
was so secretive.
I still struggle sometimes, but its
getting better, but I have been pals with
ed to long.
Really eds are so common now I would
really reccomend speaking to someone
before it gets worse.,where are you
located if you don't mind me asking.
Love lisabeth

Hey I just spotted you were from the uk, I
know there is alot of places you can go
for help, my b friend is also bulimic in
scotland and she goes to a ed clinic (out
patient) and support group.
No matter how bad you feel you are
,speaking to someone who helps people with
eds will help, question you have about it.

Thanks...I think I will...I definately
feel like its gone too far...I live in
lincolnshire but my school is very
dismissive of mental health problems and I
guess I don't feel like there is support
networks around but I think I should look
further into it...If u know anywhere I
would appreciate it....Thank u xx
