Question

I know this sounds like a dumb question but I have to ask it anyway.

I just found out im pregnant 5 days ago. ( im 5 weeks ) I do an allstar cheerleading team. And I dont know what to do with the sport. I am so scared I am going to get hit and hurt the baby. Should I stop? My parents have spent alot of money on the cheerleading this year. But if its better for the baby then ill stop asap. Im 16 so im young. Ive been with my boyfriend for almost 3 years he is 17. If anyone has any advice I would so appreciate it.

Also if you have any advic on how to tell your parents that would be great to.

Btw does anyone know when you can get your first ultra-sound?

I would probably quit the team. Cheerleading isn't really a pregnancy sport, actually it isn't at all. Lifting people in the air and getting thrown in the air is very dangerous for your pregnancy. So it would be best for your baby if you stopped while your at least pregnant.

It was also hard for me to break the news to my parents being that im only 17. Luckily I didn't have to because I have such a big mouth older sister who got to telling them before I could. They didn't say much, I mean what could they really say. Its not like they could change what happened and yelling wouldn't help the situation either. They were actually very supportive in any desicion I made and told me their here for me 100%. It shouldn't be to hard if you have understanding parents, but if not just start crying and wait for them to ask whats wrong and break the news followed with a long scenario of how you used protection and don't know how it could of possibly happened and bla bla bla.. They shouldn't yell since that would only make you cry more. Hope that works...

Anyways now about the ultra sound... Well I got mine the first time I went in just to see how far I was and make sure everything was in the right place and stuff.... Then I got my 2nd ultra sound at 18 weeks to see the sex and make sure its progressing right.

i was 17 when I got pregnant (and just turned 18 not that long ago)- I am 30 wks now, and I wrote a letter to my mom, she says she would have prefured if I had told her face to face, but I was really scared (me and my mom used to fight all the time, so I thought she would kill me). Anyways the short of it was, I didn't have to be right there when she read it, and it gave her a few minutes to gather her thoughts and so on. She took it really well. In the letter I told her that I loved her and I was sorry for letting her down, but I was pregnant and I wanted to keep the baby because I couldn't have an abortion (which was fine, because she is against them anyways) and I had weighed my options and I felt keeping the baby was the best one (but I really played into the "i don't want you to hate me" role...Lol).

As for the ultrasound, you get one after you go to your doctors and get your pregnancy confirmed. They give you a referral type sheet and then you make an appointment. The ultrasounds are really cool. Good luck!

I would just ask your doctor. You might be able to still do cheerleading with some restrictions. You are pregnant not dead!

A letter may be a good way to break the ice but after they read it im pretty sure you will have to talk about it anyways. Maybe it would be just as simple to just say okay mom and dad lets sit down b/c I have some news that I think is quite wonderful but may come as a bit of a shock to you, I am asking you to not judge or be mad, but to try to stay open minded, because I really could use your emotional support right now.

Thats just my opinion. I am pretty close to my parents I told them when I caught herpes. That was a tough one to tell my parents but they were very supportive.

Anyway, congratulations and good luck breaking the news. Let us know how it goes!
