Intense Pain In Shoulder Blade And Arm, Some Numbness Posted: 12-21-03 04:23am
Hi, I really need some advise.
My mother has constant pain in the left
shoulder blade, left arm, and neck. The
pain is so intense that she has been in
bed for six days now (which is causing her
more pain in other parts of her back and
neck) and has to struggle to find a
position that will take some of the pain
off (no position ever takes it away
completely). She also said that her arm
has some numbness, especially her
fingertips. She's already been checked
for stroke and heartattack so it's not
supposed to be those.
All of this started when she simply got up
one morning and stretched. She was
feeling some pain throughout the week
before it (but not as bad) and the first
doctor said it was leading up to this
point. However, this is going on for so
long and there is no improvement. The
flexeril, vicoden, and percocet (which
replaced the vicoden of course) is not
helping at all. Doctors are acting like
it's nothing and not advising anything
other than taking meds and applying ice
(the er doctor didn't even come back to
talk to her with the x-rays or to say
anything else!). Now, we can only think
of seeing a doctor again, but she can't
even be upright long enough for the trip.
Talk about being in a bind!
I don't know if this is anything serious
or if it's something so simple because no
one ever explains anything! Please help
us out (because doctors seem useless right
now).
