I Dont Know What to Call It... Posted: 01-03-06 13:44pm
Hi, I have had a problem since the
starting of high school for some reason
had wanted to address it. I am graduating
this month and ever since grade 9, I dont
know why, but I always feel
down/depressed? And cannot deal with
people other than family. Whenever I go
out of my house I get really nervous and
start to sweat really badly sometimes.
People ask me why dont I talk but I have
no answer to that either. I am a very
quiet person when I do talk but its rare
to see me. I am not a popular person for
I am never outside other than my part time
job. Also because I dont talk..And when
people talk to me or I have to buy clothes
I sweat the worst. I dont know what to
call my problem nor have I ever been on
any medication because I am never out of
my house other than my job, even to see a
doctor. If anyone can advize anything I
am all ears and eyes.
-thank you-

Hi z,
may I make a comment that you sound so
normal that it is refreshing to read your
posting? There are many, many people
that feel just like you do and I am one of
them, but we can do something about it.
I know many people are anti-pills and i'll
admit, that I was one of those at your
age, but there are a few very good pills
out there that help with social anxiety
and that's all you have. It's really
okay. Sometimes I wish they would have
had those pills when I was 18, but with my
stubborn streak, I probably wouldn't have
taken it. It can't hurt you to try a
medication for a few months (you have to
try it at least 3 or 4 months to see if it
will help or not). Call your doctor and
make an appointment. Ask a good friend
or a relative to go with you. I'd take
you it you lived nearby, but... People
do love you and will want to help you if
you can just get those few words out -
"could you please take me to the doctors
on..." it really won't hurt that much to
talk to the friend and doctor. Think
about it this way - you are worth it.
