Aspirin Or H. Pylori?
Posted: 01-05-06 10:09am

Four years ago I was taking a lot of aspirin to cure my hangovers, as I was also drinking to much. After a particularly spicy meal I noticed a slight pain in my stomach, this lasted for a few weeks till my freind told me it could be an ulcer and that I should knock off the aspirin, which I did and it went away shortly after.

I've had no problems at all since, as I don't take aspirin any more. (i drink sensibly now.) I also don't have spicy food, but I don't really like it anyway.

I've read online that h.Pylori is the main cause of ulcers and you should get it eradicated cause it can lead to stomach cancer.

As mine has been gone four years does this rule out a h.Pylori infection?

I'd be greatful on your any info.

H. Pylori can come back even after it has gone. But it's good that you stopped the aspirin and drinking (sensibly). Aspirin and ibuprofen (like advil) can really give you stomach problems. And yes, h.Pylori is a cause for stomach ulcers... Minor symptoms of ulcers are usually stomach pain, sometimes weight loss, but the stomach pain usually goes away after eating a meal. If you take any stomach medications, it can mask the symptoms of an ulcer. And yes if an ulcer is left untreated, it can lead to cancer.

Make sure you don't take anymore aspirin... It doens't help you with hangovers... It worsens the condition and your health, medications and alcohol do not mix.

Anyway, I hope I helped. Wish you well!

I meant that my ulcer has been gone for 4 years. (not the pylori)

i don't know if I had (have) pylori.

I think it was from the aspirin and wanted to know what anyone else thinks.

Still you cleared a good few things up thanks.
