In light of recent events in which many
complaints and arguements have ensued, I
have taken the liberty of studying this
message board to brainstorm some ideas on
how to once again make this message board
organized and user friendly.
My mind has already worked in a flurry
here. These are my suggestions to give
this message board a lift. It is time for
a makeover to help solve some of the
problems that have been popping up lately.
I do hope that you take these suggestions
under serious consideration. I believe
that they will help imensely. They may
require that the boards be shut down in
the process, but that is a small price to
pay for the boards to become organized and
user friendly.
1) create and send a notice to all
existing members. This notice will ask:
in order for our message board to remain
organized and user friendly, please make
sure that you create your posts under the
correct forum heading. This message will
also be sent to any new members upon
registering.
It should then be the moderator's
responsibility to monitor posting. If any
posts are placed under the wrong heading,
the moderator should move that post to the
correct one.
2) remove the "pregnancy" and "pregnancy q
& a" forums. These two forum headings
are duplicates, because other existing
forum headings already cover most possible
topics. This is why they are so
unorganized and being flooded, and why the
other forum headings do not get much
attention from users. The users tend to
only use the first "pregnancy' forum in
the list as a general ask all/answer all,
neglecting to even bother with any of the
other forum headings to which their
question may be better suited.
Upon deleting these two forums, create the
"ovulation and conception" forum heading,
a "pregnancy complications" forum heading,
and then the following forum heading:
3) creat an "ask the doctor" forum
heading. This should be kept general to
cover any topic. This will keep the "ask
the doctor" questions from flooding
individual forum headings. It will
centralize all of these questions under
one forum heading, thus making it easier
to ask the questions. It should also make
it easier for the doctor to answer,
because they will not have to search the
entire message board.
4) create an archive for all old posts.
Under the archive organize it by having
the same headings as the forums, and then
under each forum heading have the months
under which the posts were made: january,
february, march, etc. Keep all archives
for maybe 6 months tops, or even less,
deleting the oldest month to make room for
the newest month. This will help to keep
the site clean, and free up bandwidth.
Organization of forum headings
main heading: pregnancy & childbirth
individual forum headings under this topic
should go in this order:
1) ovulation and conception
2) early pregnancy signs & sypmtoms
3) pregnancy calendar
4) first trimester
5) second trimester
6) third trimester
7) labor & delivery
8) pregnancy complications & unusual
circumstances
9) multiple pregnancies
10) teen pregnancy
11) pregnancy after 40
12) pregnancy fitness, health, &
nutrition
13) single & pregnant
14) baby showers
main heading: after baby is born.
Separate this from the "pregnancy and
childbirth" main heading. They are
combined now.
1) baby names
2) caring for your newborn
3) postpartum depression
4) baby's health
5) baby milestones
6) infant safety tips
7) daddy tips
8) grandparenting
9) going back to work: childcare tips
again, I hope that you will take my
suggestions under serious consideration.
I think many users are becoming fed up
with the way things are going now,
resulting in loss of members.

As I am only a mod and cannot create new
headings I think the best bet would be to
send this in an e-mail or a pm to the
admin. I think they are all good ideas
and can pass them on also.

Thank you lil. I sent this to the support
e-mail addy. I hope it gets the attention
I believe it deserves. Feel free to
forward it to any admins, for you probably
have more ways to contact them more
directly.
