Post Chicken Pox Sores
Posted: 01-08-06 16:05pm

I am a 45 year old and otherwise healthy female who contracted chicken pox for the first time in my life from students at my school where I teach.

The run of the virus was quite normal for the first 3 weeks but I have and am being plagued with itching still and have what look like raised welts with sores on my arms and middle back between my shoulder blades.

The sores are very red and sometimes have a crust which might look like impitego at first sight. I have been to my doctor and he suggested that I might have dermatitis of some fashion. ???? From the chicken pox virus.

I have taken various antibiotics such as but none seem to be working thus far. I also have used bactriban cream and steroid creams and they don't seem to have any effect

i use oatmeal in my bath and that relieves the itching temporarily. Also I saw a post that said use cream of tarter, which I am now trying. Its supposed to dry up the infected welts and sores, it stings like crazy when you apply it for the first few seconds.

If anyone else has any suggestions or knowledge of this condition I would greatly appreciate any and all help you could provide. The doctors all seem to have just thrown up thier hands and pose to me giant quetion marks, I guess as long as its not life threatening they are not overly concerned. I just want to go back to wearing short sleeve shirts again rather than hiding my arms in embarrasement.

Please help
