I have yeast infections, in my opinion,
quite frequently-at least once a quarter.
I have consulted my ob/gyn and she told
me to be aware of the detergent I use, to
be aware of the soap I use, and the
material of which my painties are made,
and to eat yogurt. I have tried to be
aware of the above listed items, but the
infections still seem to come. My
husband declares that it is because I was
at one sexually active with several
partners. I am not that way now because
I believe in a monogomus (sp?) marriage.
I argue that I had these infections before
I ever became sexually active ever!
Could his argument be true? Has anyone
ever experienced an increase of yeast
infections due to sexual activity??
Could it be something I am eating? Is
my husband paranoid? Anyone got any
reliable answers?

Have you been tested for stds?
Another thought...Do you and your husband
have a lot of sex? I've heard that a lot
of sex can cause yeast infections.
Also, try wearing cotton undies, make sure
to towel dry your vaginal area after you
shower, and try using a feminine wash when
you take a shower.
Stay away from sugar and alcohol.

Yes, I have been tested for stds-negative.
My husband and I engage in sex about
once a week which I feel is not a great
amount. I do wear cotton panties. I
will try the feminine wash and am on a
diet watching my sugar intake. I only
drink alcohol about once a month.

Also make sure your husband cleans himself
well. Do you use any lotions around your
vaginal area?...That could also be why.

A yeast infection such as thrush can be
the cause of many factors and not the
frequency of sex or partners. Basically
our body has its own natural flauna and
fauna (micro-organisms) that live on our
body to protect us from invading
organisims. When these organisims are
removed from areas such as the perineal
(down below) invading organisms come in
and take over our own bacteria and cause
yeast infections. They can be caused by
antibiotics (as they kill off our own
natural bacterial), the use of
soap/detergents that can irritate our
skin, not allowing enough air flow to
these moist damp areas etc. Its def not
anything to do with sex although your
husband can also develop thrush/yeast
infections if you have unprotected sex
whilst you have an infection. I would
recommend wearing loose, cotten fitted
underwear to allow sufficent airflow, to
not use any soaps and possibly a healthy
intake of yougurt that will enable your
own bacteria to fight off the infection.
