16 Weeks Pregnant But Still Neg. Test??? Posted: 01-11-06 13:58pm
Hi all,
i'm new to this list so hello everyone!
:-) also, i've been trying to read the old
questions and answers to see if I could
find an answer to my question but having
gone through quite a few of them with my
slow dial-up, I give up. Sorry if this is
a repeat question but here goes...
I am a little bit worried that I could be
pregnant, even if the over the counter
pregnancy test shows that i'm not. I am
in my mid 40ies and have had irregular
periods for the past year or so. Haven't
had my period for close to 4 months now
and haven't thought much about it, until I
started to feel "movement" in my lower
stomach area a few days ago. Not just
once but regularly. Little "butterfly"
movements as if it were the first
movements of a baby. I have given birth
to 2 children, (my youngest is 22yr old)
so I recognize the feeling. First I
thought it just might be airbubbles/gas
but it doesn't really feel like it,
hmmm... Not "passing gas" etc... Lol.
Counting back to when I was sexually
active last time, it would mean that I
would be about 16 weeks pregnant, that is
if I am pregnant... Is it possible that I
could be pregnant even if the test I took
yesterday came up negative???
Will be making an appointment with a
doctor asap...
All the best

Hmmm I know very rarely tests can show up
negitive for some reason. Have you had
any menstural cycles? My moms friend
works in a hospital and says women come in
sometimes giving birth and they didn't
even know they were preg.... Let us know
how the test results turn out!!

I am glad to hear you are making a dr's.
Appt. You might be pre-menopausal and
you can still get pregnant going through
menopause, of course I am not a Dr. But I
just know of women that this has happened
to.
Good luck!
Keep us posted.

Hello again,
searching the internet for reasons why a
pregnancy test can show a negative and
finding a little bit more than I am
comfortable with... *sigh*. Apparently
the medication esidrex and also some
allergy medications can result in a urine
test showing negative pregnancy results.
I am on blood pressure meds, diuretic and
allergy medication, so yep, i'm calling
the doc first thing in the morning. Not
searching more for now, i'm freaking out
as it is. I'll keep you all posted.

There are a few reasons the urine test
will not show, but blood test is a lot
more accurate. They can do blood test at
the dr or er.
