Trying to Conceive With Mental Illness? Posted: 01-11-06 14:18pm
Hello all,
i am bipolar, turning 44 on january 21st,
and my dh & I are ttc #1. I am
working closely with my pdoc & my
ob/gyn as this is going to be a tricky
business. We have decided that I will
stay on my meds as I have tried to wean
off of them but had a relapse. I'm
concerned, as i'm sure you understand,
because the meds are all category c with
unknown effects on human fetuses.
I would like to know if there is anyone
else out there who is having similiar
issues.
Hello, me and my fiance' have been trying
to conceave also, similar situation. She
has bipolar, I do not. She takes similar
medications and is 34, we have been trying
for 3 months+ with no luck. The
medications dont help, this is certin, but
there are other medications out there that
work well for bipolar for some or moste
people and makes it more possable to have
a baby, she is also taking fertility pills
and has a syst on her overies. This can
prohibit conception, the only drawback is
wer gonna end up with ither twins or 4
kids. 2 is anoff for me. One thing I
have seen with bipolar and raising
childern is that youre in for alot so be
sure you can handle it. You can learn
alot and it will actualy in time,( when
they grow up some,) they will not only be
there to help you thrue things but bring
you even more understanding of things you
may not even know yet that are all good I
am sure. Good luck from us/wish us some
luck to.
