Hey all...I am 24 weeks, I make 25 tomorrow actually...And I was wondering if anyone else has experienced their breasts start to leak at such an early time..

It's not a lot...Just enough to wet the nipple area of my shirt.
It's a very yellow substance..I think it's the clostrum(or however you spell it) there is no blood in it just for the info. Aspect of this post.

Any input would be highly appreciated!!

I am also in the same sitch, im 25 wks and 4days it says on my prego book its normal, and yep its called colostrum (mines like colorless-a bit whitish tho) explanation for that is the body's preparing to produce milk when the baby comes :) im breastfeeding when mine arrives so im quite happy with it :)
good luck

Yeah its normal...Never happened to me ...But did to my cousin..Hers didnt only leak they actually poured out...But only when she got outta the shower...I wouldnt worry about it ...Just get you some pads to put in your bra..Thats what I did when I breastfed ...It keeps you from having big ole wet spots on your boobs..Lol which can be embarassing...(or to me it was)...

My wife was leaking early too. I went and bought her the lansinoh nursing bra pads and they seemed to work pretty good.

Now that she has been breastfeeding for over 2.5 months, I have been buying other brands of nursing bra pads for her and as of right now they rank in order:

johnson and johnson
lansinoh
avent

i have not seen any other brands but for her she feels like the j&j work best.

Also, it would be a wise idea for anyone planning on nursing to buy the lansinoh lanolin to keep your nipples moisturised and pain free. The stuff is really expensive, like $10.00 per tube, the hospital gave us one tube and we have had to buy 2 so far.

Chaffing...
Yea, I heard that can be the only downside to breastfeeding. Chaffed or not..I'm going to breast feed (if god lets me). Lol..

I get this weird sensation in my breast, and when I look down it's like hello!!! Lol...My bras, for now, will do because they have padding in them. Of course, I don't think I want to ruin all of my bras!!

Has anyone heard of pumping this early and freezing it in preparation or in case of any post pardom problems(not referring to depression).

(i.E. An emergency c-section and prescription meds are needed)

a little off of the subject...But what prenatals did everone use...Sorry tamadrum...Lol..Which did your wife use? Do you know?

You shouldnt pump too early. You will pull the colustrum(sp) and antibodies out before you are feeding them to the baby. I could be wrong but I do know the lactation specialist told her not to pump before 6 weeks unless she was going back to work. We are renting the medela symphony and it is a dream machine. She gets 8 to 10 oz. In about 10 minutes of pumping.

As far as prenatals, she couldn't handle alot of the prescription ones because they are really hard on her stomach so I came up with a plan and the doc agreed.

1 womans one-a-day (brand one-a-day not the generic)
1 400mcg folic acid (sam's club/ members mark brand)
1 enfamil expecta lipil gel cap.
1 58mg slow fe iron supplement.

We did not start on the added iron until her 3rd trimester. We had several scares and ended up with a 30 week ultrasound and the 1 and 3 hour gestational diabetes test. She was fine but she really got nervous because she and I are both researchers and so she thought the worst and I thought the best but she didnt listen to me until the doc confirmed.

Testing...
Yea...I've heard that many of the tests come back abnormal and cause uneccessary scare.

I am taking prima care which is a prenatal..It contains omega 3 and 6, it also contains good levels of iron and it increases baby birth weight. My doc thinks i'm insane...But I just want a "well fed" looking baby! Lol...Large babies already run in my and my fiance's family. So far it skips generations in both families. My mom was a whopping 11 lbs. But I was a healthy 7pounder. My fiance's mother was also a double digit baby yet my fiance was also an average 7 lbs. His brother had a child a couple of years ago and the baby weighed 10 5oz. It's pretty much a known how large this child has the potential to be and that's why my doc thinks I am insane!!!

Although my ultrasound at 21gestational weeks came back that the baby was 1lb10 oz..Almost 2lbs already was quite a shock....I still have a while..I made 25 weeks today..And look enormous!!! My weight starting out was 130 and 5ft6in. And it is now 160, belly and thigh weight. From the belly up...I look exact as I did prior to baby!!

Thanks for the info that you've supplied!! It is highly appreciated!
