Irregular Periods - Is It Normal? Posted: 01-12-06 16:27pm
I don't remember ever being on a "regular"
schedule. My cycle is always between
30-42 days - but it always comes within
that time. Is this normal or should I be
worried?

I know I am the same way. Mine was worse.
It would fall between 30 and 60 days and
I skipped periods all the time. If you
want to get control of your periods, birth
control can help.
I've always been told not to worry about
it. It can't be the healthiest thing but
i've always been fine and I guess my
mother and sister had the same problems.
You could try asking your mother about it,
see if she was the same way.
Also certain things can delay your period
like stress or not eating right. I
figured mine was so off cause I am always
stressed out.

Mine was really irregular just like munkys
and I did go on birth control. It is
nice being able to know when its going to
come ut for the first couple months it
wont be regulated if you choose that
option. It could be due to a hormonal
imbalance so you should also think about
if when you get your period you seem
excessively moody or get bad cramps. The
birth control would also help with those
problems.

I was on birth control in the past and it
made me regular. I don't want to be on it
now, though. My husband & I haven't
been preventing against pregnancy for over
2 years now.... I am starting to worry
because I haven't gotten pregnant yet. We
haven't been having sex but like 2-3 times
a week because we're not actually trying
to get pregnany... Still makes me nervous
though.

I was on bc from the age 15 to 19 and I
just got off of it about a year ago and
now my periods are not normal. They
usually skip a month. But if you have
never been on bc or even if you have
irregular periods could be a sign of an
underlying problem like thyroid problems,
pituitary tumors, stress or a hormone
imbalance. It just depends I would go get
checked out if its persistant.

My thyroid and hormone levels are all
normal (which, since my prolactin isn't
high, there's no reason to believe I have
a tumor in the pituitary gland). When I
went wed., my ob-gyn said that my periods
are irregular because I am so thin.
