I'm 19 and a couple of years ago found out
that I had a bad cavity on my lower right
side, it was a really bad cavity and he
kept putting medicated fillings in but it
was too late and he said I probably would
have to have it extracted, the tooth has
turned a really dark color but I am only
in pain a few times a week and ibuprofin
usually takes care of it, or orajel if it
comes to that. I don't want to get it
extracted right now because I have heard
teeth bow into the space.
If I do not get it extracted this tooth
will not effect any other teeth will it.
Each tooth has its own roots right?
Thanks to anyone who helps?

Yes, each tooth has its own set of roots.
By having the damaged tooth extracted, it
will not affect the other teeth. Was the
tooth beyond saving? I mean there are
other routes one can take in order to save
a tooth(its $ expensive) but you still
have that tooth in your mouth. I am
referreing to a root canal and crown. Did
your dentist offer this option? If you
choose to have this tooth pulled, are you
going to have one made as a partial to
replace it? Just something to think
about.

Thanks so much for replying but what if I
just left the cavity in, I am almost sure
it is too late for a root canal because
the tooth is pretty dark and split down
the middle horizontally, I am usually not
in too much pain. I've had this cavity in
for a few years though, if I left it in
there are any of my other teeth at risk?
Are there any possible complications? I
just want to leave it in until I can save
the money for a tooth implant or bridge,
don't have insurance and parents don't
help much:/ thanks

I totally understand what you are going
through. Been where you are and done
that! Now, that I am able, I have spent a
fortune to save my teeth and gums. I
would go immediately and have this rotted
tooth extracted. Yes, this bad tooth will
have an effect on your other teeth and
gums. An infection will set in and then
you will have major problems. You can
always have another tooth made to replace
the one you have pulled. Infection can
spread, it can also cause heart problems.
Not trying to scare you, just help you to
make the right decision. I raised a
daughter on my own and did not have $ to
take care of my own teeth. I undertand
about not having $ and parents that don't
help you. I am sure there is a dentist
there though that would work something out
financially with you. Please take care of
yourself! Lmk ! I'm out here waiting in
the wings!
