Q: 3cm Dilated At 38 Weeks

Hi there i'm 38 weeks 5 days and really frustrated as my daughter was born at 38 weeks and I want this baby out! Anyway I went to my midwife appointment this morning and begged them to do another cervical sweep (had one done a week ago) she did it and said I am 3cm dilated and 50% effaced. I'm really happy and had mild back pains after which have gone now.
Last week when I had it done they said I was 2cm and 30% effaced.
Just wondering if anyone had had a similar experience and how soon after they went into labour. Thanks.

My wife was 1cm and 90% effaced at 36 weeks, she didn't dialate further until week 38 and she was 2cm and still 90% effaced.

Not uncommon at all to be dialated for more than a month.
