Hey I got a tattoo while I was pregnant... Theres no known facts that the ink could hurt the baby ... But they want to make sure that your body dosent go into shock while your getting the tattoo because of the pain your body could hurt the baby.

i dont think I would do that while I were pregnant...

Have respect for the baby ..Wait till after.. The baby knows when you hurt so im pretty sure getting a tattoo will cause stress on the baby

Ya it's not the safest thing. First for blood infections, second you never know if the place is totally sterilized and would you like to pass something on to your child? My son is almost 7 months old and I went wednesday and got the one my bf drew for me and the baby while preggo.

Not a good idea! My aunt joanne contracted hepatitus c when she got a tribute tattoo of a tropical island scene on her foot in memory of my passed uncle eddie.

She is suffering terrible complications from that tat. Preg or nursing, a big no no.

Good .God, why would you even ask that? No, no no. Common sense. Just wait. You should be thinking of your pregnancy, not concentrating on tatoos. Lol

I just got a tattoo on new years eve. Since I am ttc I asked the artist (who also is a registered nurse) and he said that although the risks are minimal, he personally would not tattoo someone who was pregnant. I think he also said something about women reacting to some things differently while pregnant and that is why it can be unsafe because something about the ink and possibly causing the mother's body to reject the fetus causing misscariage.

I wouldnt want to take the chance personally.

I'd wait til after the baby is born. I've been to many tattoo places (going with friends who were getting some done and a couple times myself), most artists will not tattoo a pregnant woman. It's a whole liability thing, same with if they tattoo someone who is anemic. If the woman loses her baby after the tattoo, they can be held responsible causing a major lawsuit.

Tattoo's cause stress to you, worrying about the pain, if it's going to look good, then the pain of the needles stabbing you over and over. So with the stress caused to you, multiply that by say 1000, that's how much stress it causes to your child.

I'm not going to get into the diseases that you can get from a place.. Everyone else seemed to cover that.

But remember, when you do go to get a tattoo.. Make sure it is something that you wouldn't mind having on your body the rest of your life. I got in a tattoo mood one day, and got a playboy bunny on my lower back. Now i'm saving up to get it covered up lol.

The tattoo I got was before I knew that I was actually preggo.... And I got it at my moms shop... And im the one that does all the inventory and makes sure everything is steril and clean. It was my 10th tattoo so I didnt stress... And I was sure on the facts about everything that was going on with the artist and all that. Yall are right most people do not tattoo people when they are expecting my mom wont unless a concent form is signed and the woman knows what she is doing...And she wont hold my mom reliable for anything that happens... She hasnt gotten alot of preggo people to get tatt'd in the shop but their have been a few and we do break down everything that could happen.
Just wait... Cause one thing I found out... Your skin is so oily... The ink can really medical question up. Just wait u have waited 18 yrs to get once at least and 9 months isnt nothing...Lol

everywhere ive ever gotten a tattoo they have gotten out a new needle out of the package. I dont think there is reallly any reason to worry about getting hep c or hiv from a tattoo.

lily

most of those packages are put on by the shop after they autoclave the instruments. The package does not mean it is new.

If you go to a shop where the person doing the artwork is not well educated in autoclaving, just like my aunt joanne, you too can and probably will get hepatitus.

I guess the best bet is to wait until you are no longer prego and no longer nursing with a healthy respect for you your own health and that of your child. If you are planning to have more kids, wait and when you are all done you may have even more art that you would like better than what you wanted a year or more prior.

It is just not worth the risk no matter how small it may be. (my opinion of course )

I know the needles are sterile, but sometimes they reuse the ink. Case in point...Pamela anderson got hep c from tattoo!!

Hmm I didn't know thats how pam got hc. But anyway, I see nothing wrong with tats, I have 2 myself, but I would wait until after you have the baby. It's not really that long to wait and it just gives you more time to think of what you really want.
