Getting Pregnant After Miscarriage
Posted: 01-15-06 20:36pm

Hi,
i had a miscarriage exactly 3 weeks ago and the bleeding stopped last week, and 2 days later we started having sex normally.
Now,the problem is that last night the condom split and now im scared that im pregnant again,i mean I do want a baby but I wanted to wait atleast 2 months before trying again.
Does anyone know anything about this,or if its posible even though I didnt have a period yet and if I was really pregnant would it cause any problems that I concieved so early??

Thanks.

I had a miscarriage on xmas day of 2001. The doctors told me, that for my emotional wellbeing I should wait about 6 months to try again. It really had nothing to do with medical reasons. But more so I could have time to grieve the loss before becoming pregnant again.
I'm surprised you were comfortable enough to have sex so early.
The possibility of you getting pregnant again is definitely there. It matters not whether you've had a period. It shouldn't cause any problems that you conceived so short of a time after a miscarriage. It actually happens quite often. I know people that have conceived 3 weeks after actually giving birth!!!

Docs told me to wait till bleeding stops and your period comes on so they can get a rough date when we do try again and makes it easier. But its best really to let your body go back to how it was before trying again as its dangerous. Am just waiting for my period but am currently on tablets due to miscarriage back in dec 05'.

What about morning after pill or is that too late now?

i dont know how safe it is, but I do know I was pregnant 9 times in 5 years. I carried 3 to term and one to 18, 19 weeks. (baby was born alive, but hospital says they have not the resources to care for it there--so I guess it just died--idk)

I did not ever have any medical concerns, and never was told why. I was pregnant every 2 months for quite a few of these pregnancy's. Because your body is very fertile after miscarriage, and after birth. Dr's never told me anything about waiting to become pregnant again. And I was not using birth control very often. I wanted 3 children, and I finally had the third child on the 9th pregnancy.

When I lost my baby, the doctor told me to have protected sex (condoms or pull- out method) until I had two normal periods. Even though the pull- out method isnt usually advised for long term birth control she said it was fine for a couple of months. I asked her whay wait tow months? What happens if I were to get pregnant before that? She said that if you get pregnant soonerthere is just higher chance of misscariage. I didnt exactly follow that %100 but I didnt get pregnant either. Actually a normal fertile couple trying to concieve only has aproximatley a %25 chance of conceiving each cycle-even if they have sex every day, and during ovulation.

Hope that helps some. Good luck to you sweetie.
