One More Thing...does Anyone Know? Posted: 01-15-06 22:43pm
Does anyone know what the laws are to
getting emancipated or the procedure?
If you do let me know if you like have to
get a parental signature if you're
pregnant and wanting to get emancipated or
even if you're not pregnant can you get
emancipated without a signature.
I want to get emancipated after I turn 16
because I dont like my family and its hard
living here and theres way to much crap
but I know for a fact that my mom wont
sign any papers for me to get emancipated
and I might be pregnant and I might not
but no matter what I just want to know?
So does anyone know?

Emancipation: when a child is emancipated,
he/she is freed of parental control and
his/her parents no longer have any legal
duties toward him/her.He/she has the right
to be employed. To keep his wages, and to
live apart from the family home. He/she
can also make contracts, write a will, and
get a drivers license without his/her
parents consent.
Emancipation occurs automatically when a
child reaches the age of maturity- 18 or
19, depending on the state, but it can
also take place earlier if, for example,
he/she gets married or enters the
military.
Recently, public attention has been
focused on expanded rights that some
courst have given children. Example in
1992 a court in florida allowed a 12 year
old boy to petition for termination of his
natural parents custody rights, allowing
him to be adopted by his foster parents.
Not really sure of hte lasw in vegas,
pretty sure they are lenient!@ i'd find
some sort of legal aid to discuss this
with. Hope this helps, it came out of my
legal problem solver book! Keep me
posted!
