Dads And the Delivery

When I had my daughter my husband went pyshco he drove like a maniac to the hospital and trying to help but made things worse lol, my husband is an rn(nurse) buts its like when im in labor he looses his cool calm collective attitude and forget stuff. Anyways I have 17 days till im due with #2 and im afraid he going to freak out again he already harrasing me lol with stuff like is he here yet, whens he coming, I know hes excited but im going bananas. So how can I get him to chill out abit this time cause I dont want to have him making me more anxious than I already.. Or if he sees something on the moniters hell know and freak out.... Any advice

Get an appointment to be induced. That is the only way I was able to calm down. I would basically stand guard all night getting water and cleaning and painting and shopping and making sure she was ok almost to a fault.

I am nervous by nature and so not knowing what to expect as far as going into labor was probably the most nerve wracking thing in the world for me.

As soon as we had a delivery date, I was able to make a schedule and get all my ducks in a row and then it was wednesday oct 26, 2005 and baby brian benjamin was here.

The bast thing that you can do is share your feelings and if the doc will cooperate, have him give you an induction date so that dad can cool out and get things ready.

Everyone said I was nesting, I don't really get it but if he is nesting I don't think it is bad. Although I dont ave a clue what it is either.

I actually did not like ice cream before my wife got preggers and then as she went along, I began to crave ice cream and she actually thought it was hilarious. I gained weight and then as my nerves got me I lost weight and I havent gained it back yet. Since birth I have lost about 25 pounds.

As far as being grumpy goes, I wasn't grumpy. I was excited and ready for my little one. You are right however, they did not cooperate with the induction date until I bugged the ob and one of our docs partners was who we saw and she said something like, we can take this baby a little early, I tricked the ladies at the front desk and they scheduled us for the following wednesday. Our favorite docs duty day.

I know it may not have been the best thing to do but I think I would have been in the hospital from a breakdown otherwise. 8>)

Men generlly have an adrenalin rush when their wife or g/f are about to deliver, even though he is a rn, you are his #1, sometimes you think it is them having the baby, it is kind of funny to watch them in labor and delivery as we know and understand what the mom is going thru but watching the husbands is funny, if they do not pass out, I worked in labor and delivery, it is only because he cares sooooooo much!

Its just weird though cause ive seen my husband at work and hes really good at what he does its just funny/annoying cause youd think he be helping me out like he does with his patients then driving me crazy....
It makes me laugh cause he had to read on obstetrics and its like he doesnt know anything when I talk to him it like hes a whole different person at home and at work.

Men are just weird (im referring to mine in particular) I just wish I could understand whats going through their minds, I remeber him driving me to the hospital I was just reading a book and he was screaming at ppl in the cars ahead it was hilarious....

hey! Fourunalty I do not have the same problem as you do with my hubby! So, I can't give you much advice on it! I wanted to reply to your post because I read that your hubby is an rn. My husband is in nursing school to become an rn. He is in his third year. One more to go! If you don't mind my asking, does your husband make good money? What does he do? My husband hasn't decided which department he wants to work in yet. I think there should be more male nurses. There will only be two in my hubby's graduating class! Well, I hope to hear from you soon! Sorry if I was a bother to you. I wish you the best of luck with baby number two!

God bless and good luck,
teresa

Its good money teresa I dont know about in the states buts its a good income, a nurse in canada is paid anywhere from 40k to 65k (with annual raises/medical benefits) depending on their credentials. My husband works between two different outpatient clinic right now so he working in pyhsio and treatment room(spec clinic) for skin problems/vasectomys etc his prefernce is working in a smaller place and not a large hospital...

I dont know what else to say

wish your hubby luck!!

Mikey was so retarted the night my water broke cause he had just gotten approved to get the computer for the studio too. He kept calling people and saying jess' water broke and I got the computer!! He must have called like 5 people before I finally said "can you call the f-ing taxi!!!!!!" lmao

he was pretty calm though for the whole thing.

Brian was more scared for me than anything else..... But he hid it well. I found out later he cried a bunch of times when he was out for a smoke. He stayed so amazingly strong for me. Remember girls, he was only 17!!!

The only time he has cried is when it has to do with me or our babies :d . I love him for that

ur right, men are just weird. I've seen jay take are of his friends when they do stupid things and hurt themselves, but as soon as i'm in pain or something he's psycho... Good luck with abel! Hopefully he calms down this time.
