Localized Blood Clot and Follow Up Posted: 01-16-06 12:20pm
Question: I have been to 3 doctors now
because I have been worried about a blood
clot in my right leg for about 6 weeks. I
have mild sharp, almost itchy pain in my
calf, kind of hot feeling inside my knee
but does not feel hot to the touch, should
note my knees pop and crack with some
exercises, and wierd pulses throughout my
body that feels like worms crawling
through my veins or thick blood. Also
shortness of breath and hoarse dry coughs
that are nonproductive. There is no
swelling or pain with walking. I have gone
to 3 docs now, none of who directly
checked my leg, and they all say my labs
,except ddt, were perfect and they all
thought anxiety disorder...but to me that
does not explain these symptoms. I do sit
a lot during the day so I thought blood
clot. Why else could i have these symptoms
for over 6 weeks and nothing helps
them?
It sounds as if you are self-diagnosing
vein thrombosis as you describe “blood
clot in your leg”. If you had that
disease, your leg would be swollen, red,
warm and very painful. You can go to your
doctor and if he doesn't check your leg
again, ask him to send you to a vascular
surgeon to clear the situation. If
everything is OK, you may need to seek
help from a mental help professional who
can help you work on your anxiety about
your health.
