Question On Leg Pain
Posted: 01-16-06 16:06pm

I have a lumbar herniated disk, the disk above it is torn I also have scoliosis which means my spine is shaped like an s, also I have pinched nerves on both sides of my neck, down my loweer back, in both legs all the way down. I have had muscle spasms during all this but for the last week they have gotten extremly frequent. Friday along with the spasms I have had pain in both legs. I have tried reating them, walking around the house, massage , tiger balm ,vicoden, ultram, norflex, and ice nothing is working. Does anyone have any advice for some relief. I already have an appionyment with a surgoen for all of the conditions. On febuary I go to a pain specialist for injections. My neurologest is not sure what type it will be since I have so much wrong.

I think the thing that will help you the most is seeing the pain specialist. They will probably increase the doseage of medicine or all together change the meds you are on along with the steroid injections.

The surgeon will be the mechanic to fix the broken parts but the pain doctor is the guy doing the detail work on the car. He/she is the person that is going to make your life livable again.

If by chance the meds you have now are not working at all, you may be able to get in to see the doctor that prescribed the meds to you first. Maybe they can increase the doseage or change the meds, give better hands on advice.

The best advice right now is to hang on and realize that there are treatments that will help you in the works and you are going to be helped soon. Do not give up hope.

Keep us informed,
brian

I dont think the original doctor will increase dose he is very anti meds. After or maybe even during this I am going to change my general practitioner. So I guess I will just hang in there . Thanks

Hi there! Have you thought of a baclofen pump for the pain, or one of those scs pumps. Pain management drs are great if they can help you, mine could not but he sure tried, they are generally anaestheseologists(sp) and like to do pain blocks and epidurals.
Good luck!

Sandy,

the pain pump and also the baclofen (muscle relaxer) are the cats meow from what I have heard. I know I have said it before but there has not been a complaint from ayone that I have ever met, in person or on the internet in pain management forums.

Shorty, if they offer to implant the medtronic pump, you should think hard about it because it could completely change your life and give you back what you have needed for a long time.

(great advice sandy :>) )

good luck,
brian
