Hello all,
first time here. Joe from n.Y. Colon
cancer runs in my family. As far back as
my grandfather, then my uncles and now my
mother. In 1999 she had a portion of her
colon removed. And this past november,
the remaining was taken out. She has but
a few inches left and the surgeon said in
a couple of months he would be able to
reverse the bag. I took her to the
oncologists yesterday and they want to
start her on chemo. Her emotions took
over and she left. My question is the
surgeon said he removed all the cancer and
she wouldn't need chemo, do I force her?
I am at a loss. Any help out there, would
be appreciated.
Thanks, joe

Hi joe! Welcome! I am sorry we met
under these circumstances! I am sorry to
hear about your mom. You cannot force
anyone to do anything if they do not want
to. You can talk to her and tell her how
you feel. People hear alot of horror
stories about chemo and it can be scary!
My step-mother in-law had back bone cancer
and is in remission due to chemo.
Some have luck with it and others do
not!
I do wish you and your mom the best on
whatever the decision is! You are in my
thoughts and prayers!
