My cough doesnt stop, I have the problems since last 5 months, its sometimes become severe , sometimes suddenly stops, coughing causes a lot of pain in my throat and I feel real sick as my body turns warm.I have taken medication to reduce the throat pain and cough. The throat pain stops ,the coughing also stops but it again starts very soon.My doctor says I m normal and things are caused due to infection. Please tell me what could be the reasons my cough doesnt stop completely and why do I get throat infections so often which causes severe pain in the throat and fever.

You are possibly suffering from chronic tonsilo-pharingitis (long-acting inflammation of the throat). Chronic inflammation causes pain and provokes regular coughing. This chronic throat inflammation can be caused by an untreated infection or allergy. In many cases, both reasons act together. You must request a nose and throat smear to isolate (if there is one present) the infective agent. If bacterium is isolated, your doctor can develop an antibiogram to test its sensitivity to antibiotics. If non bacterium is isolated during a nose/throat smear, then possibly you are hosting a virus(es), an allergy, or both. Standard blood analyses can also be performed: Er,Gr,Ly; sedimentation, CRP, AST,). Sinusitis and oral infection must also be investigated as possible reasons for a chronic sore throat. Beside antibiotics, anti-allergy medications are used when necessary. Local antiseptics for local throat treatment are also recommended (i.e. 1% providone Iodum). You can visit a ENT-specialist immediately to begin these examinations and proper treatment.
