I Let Myself Go Posted: 01-20-06 05:50am
I have really gained some weight in the
past 3 years. I alsmost hate to admit
this but I am only 5'2 and weigh 220 lbs.
When I met my husband 3 years ago I was
165, and was overweight then. At this
point I would be fine with being around
150lbs.
He says he loves me the way I am which is
great but the problem is I am disgusted
with myself for letting myself get this
heavy. I dont even recognize myself .
I havent been to the gym in awhile
although I have a membership at bally
total fitness. I am intimidated going in
there. What can I do to start back in to
exercising?
Also the last 20 lbs I gained when I was
pregnant 6 months ago I lost the baby and
I havent been very motivated because I
have been sad. I am trying to get
pregnant again but I am also thinking
maybe I should wait and lose weight first.
I dont know. I am 27 with no kids and I
dont want to wait too long. Id like to
lose alot of weight fast.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should go on a no starch diet.Which
means no peas,corn,bread, pasta potatoes
or potato chips, you will lose wuite a bit
of weight but you need to exersize too!
I'm sorry about your loss but cheer up!
Tell me how things are going!

I think its different, atkins is when you
cut out carbs and have lots of
protein--but its really unhealthy for
you..
I've just been eating lots of salad for
lunch, special k for breaky, and only one
serving of whatevers for dinner (nothing
fried or greasy tho)..And I work out for
about 40mins a day
i started this like 2 wks ago and i've
lost 8lbs already..But idk, everyones
different
good luck hunny-with everything

Thank you so much. I just ordered some
work out videos that I can do at home, and
once I build up my confidence some, I
think ill start going aback to the gym and
add some weight lifting and maybe
swimming...

That is not the atkins diet, its called the
south beach siet. The atkins diet I think
is dangerous and unhealthy,you can't
really eat anything. The south beach is ok
to do bc you can still eat and its
healthy. It does not matter if you only eat
one serving, its how big your servings
are,you should measure out your
food.Congrats on losing some of the weight
girl!

Hey liwikiwi,
i think you are taking the right steps by
getting on the web and learning as much as
you can about getting into shape (fitness,
health & nutrition).
Here is a link that could help you out as
well www.F-heit.Com
a great support forum and access to free
articles and experts in the field.
Also, I would suggest rather than looking
at your nutrition as a diet, to perceive
it as a lifestyle, a nutritional plan per
se.
I would start by emptying your kitchen of
all the evil lurking foods nestled in your
fridge and cupboards. They are just
looking to be consumed and you don't want
to be the one to eat these foods.
good luck,
amanda
ps. There is a great support network out
there, surround yourself with it. Take
control!

I had a medical emergency three months to
the day! I am only 32 and realized I had
to changed my eating habits. I didn't
pick a "diet" I went on line study the way
I should eat and went to see a
nutritionist. It's about changing your
life style forever. I started off walking
for twenty minutes and now I am jogging
and to get my heart really pumping I jump
rope for ten minutes-twice a day. Also,
watch your sodium intake and cut caffeine
out-that stuff raises the heart-rate..It's
really bad.
Start slowly and eat greens!! I now have
lost ten pounds and my blood pressure is
95/55. You'll see the results slowly but
in time it will be worth it
goodluck

I know several people who have had success
with weight watchers. A friend of mine
has lost over 100 lbs.
Please don't jump on fad diets or diet
pills. If you want to lose weight and
keep it off, you need to make lifestyle
changes, not just go on a quickie plan.
