Tonsil Platelets, Infection, and Treatment Posted: 01-20-06 13:47pm
I have been bulimic for about seven years
and have noticed that my tonsils eroded
and have developed orifices in them which
store a semi-soft yellowish material that
my doctor said were platelets. He did not
explain anything about this except that i
had to use listerine for the rest of my
life and that it was caused by my eating
disorder. I would like to seek a second
opinion but am too embarrassed to tell
anyone else about my E.D.
Yellowish material collected in the tonsil
orifices is what remains of food mixed
with saliva. Because of bacteria is always
present in the mouth, this material rots
and an unpleasant odor comes out of the
mouth. The tonsil orifices probably
developed as a result of chronic
inflammation of the tonsils. Listerine
could be useful for cleaning the material
on your tonsils and you can seek further
advice from an ENT specialist.
