Hi, over a month ago I woke up with
painful sharp head pains that occur all
over my head and last for a few seconds.
They tend to occur more at different times
of day. Recently the symptoms have died
down a bit. I also experience muscle
spasms/twitching. Its quite scary, and im
a bit worried about it. I havent been
under stress or anything, so it eremains a
mystery to me why these headaches occur.
The headaches are more strong at different
parts of the day, this time varies.

Does anyone have any feedback, it would be
much appreciated. I've just been on a
website about chronic tension headaches,
which are a result of poor posture. I
think this might be my problem, this
apparently can lead to muscle spasms to.
Anyone got another idea as to what it
might be. I'm quite worried

I am experiencing the exact same thing....
And like you, it has got me very worried.
I have read about headaches called ice
pick head aches wich come as close as
anything that I have read about the short
stabbing that I have been getting. I
have been having them for about a week
now. I am a 20 year old female and I
have never suffered from headaches before.
As far as the muscle twitching thing
goes... I have no idea. Mine are mostly
in my calf muscle, arm, or eye. No one
really seems to know what it is. I have
been suffering from anxiety resulting in a
fair amount of stress, which is what
everyone tells me it is. Are you sure
you are no stressed about anything? Good
luck

Hi yes, the pains are of short duration at
different points in my head. I just cant
understand why I am experiencing muscle
spasms/twitching in my arms and legs.
Thanks for the advice guys.

I've been suffering from anxiety a lot of
late, that may be a cause of the
twitching.

Hi. I've been experiencing the same kind
of head pains. Very sporatic, could be on
either side, last about 10-15 secs, like a
stabbing pain. I've been to my doctor and
even went for a ct scan on my head which
came back normal. My doctor suggested it
could have something to do with irritation
of the occipital nerve (center back part
of neck) just becasue I get pain not on
one specific side. She is sending me to a
neurologist next to see if they can
determine whats causing it.
I think stress may be a factor. I dont
get any blurred vision or hearing, but
twitching eye more often. Anyhow I don't
think these headaches are too serious
(unless you experience diziness or blurred
vision, you should get that checked out).
Im curious to see what the neurologist
will determine. I'll check back here from
time to time. Nice to know im not the
only one experiencing this!

Sharp Pains In Head Posted: 03-20-06 19:07pm
For years now I have had the same symptoms
you all have been having. My doctor
finally put me on an anti anxiety
medication and it seems to be working.
The pains are down to way less than have
and even my migraines are better
thanks,

The same thing happens to me but has only
been going on for about 2 weeks now.
Sometimes i'll be sitting there and i'll
get a sudden, intense pain on the right
side of my head that's almost right behind
my right eye. The pain moves backwards
as it happens.
I don't know what it is. I told my mom
and she said it may be because I may need
glasses but I can see fine. I was
looking down the street and could see
about 3 blocks down. It hasn't been
happening as much anymore but every once
in awhile it will happen. It happens
more when i'm doing something physically
active such as running or when i'm riding
my bike.

Odd Stabbing Pains Posted: 04-26-06 03:16am
Wow this is odd, I was just getting ready
to go to bed, and thought I need to get on
the computer to check what has been going
on with these pains in my head. Then I
came across this. I felt like I was the
only one. I looked up earlier the signs
and symptoms of a brain annuryism, because
that is what I thought it might be.
Someone on here said it perfectly I feel
like a have someone stabbing me with an
ice pick. Mine have just started a couple
of months ago and do not come all the
time. They first started out near my
temple and lasted about a week. They all
of a sudden went away.
Now I am having them really bad right
above my left ear. They are so sharp that
my eye will twinge. The pain only lasts a
few seconds, and the pain is gone, but
sometimes will show up many many times a
day.
It sounds like many of you experience the
same thing ( I am a little on the
hypochondriac side though :) ) so if this
sounds differant than yours let me know.

Consider This ??? Posted: 06-05-06 08:25am
I have had headaches since I was young
(teens) but they have progressively gotten
worse in the past 2 years. Lately i've
been getting 10-15 per month. I tried
topomax. Didn't help much and the side
effects were bad. One day I decided to
check out those silver (mercury dental)
fillings and was soooo amazed at what I
found. Those 'harmless' silver fillings
contain @ 50% mercury, which is very very
toxic. They can cause a host of
problems, among which are migraines! I
did alot of research via the internet and
am convinced that this is the cause of my
pain. I have 12 and most were done when I
was young. I also have several other
health problems (depression, sleep apnea,
foggy brain, poor concentration, ringing
in ears) that I believe are linked to
these fillings. I'm now in the process
of getting them all replaced. For all
of you fellow sufferers, please check this
out!! ! And take note that alot of
dentists and medical people don't believe
that this is a problem. Take charge of
your health and do your own research like
I did. Doctors aren't god and don't have
all the answers. You'll be amazed at
what you find. Good luck to all of you
and god bless. Anyone who checks this
out, please let me know what you think and
decide. I'd love to hear from you.

Ice Pick Headaches Posted: 08-10-06 14:37pm
I am a migraine sufferer for many years.
If I watch what I eat and sleep right I
don't get them. But for the past few
years i've been getting these very sharp
stabbing pains on the upper right side of
my head. The pain is so intense that I
instinctively grab the side of my head as
i'm bending away from the pain. Sometimes
they last a few seconds, sometimes a few
minutes. Sometimes for a half hour on and
off. I went to a doctor and had a cat
scan. Nothing showed. But for the past
6 months there is a tenderness on the
upper right side of my head. The exact
spot were I always have these ice pick
pains. Even those times that I don't have
the headache, my head still feels pretty
tender. Does anyone else have this
lingering tenderness?
I'd love to hear from anyone.

I also have that tenderness. Its above
my right ear. The exact same spot where
my "headaches"are. Like if I touch it it
feels tender. Maybe because I rub that
spot there. Do you? What other
problems with your head are you
experencing?????
No other head problems so far.
Just the tenderness in the upper right
hand side of my head

I don't rub the spot at all because it
hurts too much

Same Thing Posted: 09-18-06 13:44pm
Hi, I am a young teen who has been
experiencing the exact same thing as the
rest of you. I was convinced I had a
brain tumor, until I visited the doctor a
few weeks ago. I was so scared, I could
not get out of bed for half the summer!!
They started about two months ago, and im
sick of the pain and anxiety. I am a
major worrier, and have always suffered
from anxiety (maybe that has something to
do with it. I felt alone until today,
when I looked my symptoms up on the
internet.
If anyone has answers, please tell!!

Hi ppl,. It sad and good to know that I m
not the only one having silly headaches!
I have been having them for a month now,,
few days ago I went for a check up and the
doc clearly said, this is all due to
tension and stress, he gave me an anti
depressent (cipralex), a muscle
relaxant(musidin)....... I have taken it
for a few days and the head aches are
better! ......... Just a
food for thought,, I was reading this
article the other day, it was written in
it that 90% of the headaches are related
to tension and anxiety,, !!! So we all
need to get over with them! I say, dont
suppress them, face them once for all!
May god bless all of us with health!
Cheers

This worked for my boyfriend... Posted: 06-16-08 13:58pm
My boyfriend just started getting "ice
pick" headaches the other day. Once we
figured out what it was, we gave him one
24-hour Claritin-D and the headaches
stopped immediately. He'd had them on and
off for two days... it's now been a week
since he took the allergy pill and he
hasn't had one since.
We started using decongestant allergy meds
on his migraines after a friend of mine
told me they worked for him. Now whenever
he starts to get a migraine, he takes an
allergy pill and it stops the headache.
If you decide to try it, remember to get
an allergy pill WITH a decongestant... the
regular allergy pill isn't enough. So get
Claritin-D from the pharmacist, not
regular Claritin from the shelf. Target
also offers a Target brand generic, but
you need to ask the Target pharmacist for
the decongestant allergy pill... don't
just pick up the box on the shelf.
(I'm posting this on multiple forums at my
boyfriend's request... the headaches
freaked him out and he wants to share what
helped him in case it helps other people.)

Stabbing pain & vascular "spasms" over and behind Posted: 08-20-08 20:56pm
If your like me, you are searching the
internet for what is going on with you.
I suddenly started getting intermittent (a
couple 3 stabs or spasms) slightly above
and behind my right ear... hell, i would
gasp when it hit and had no idea what was
going on. I started to cut back on sodas
and coffee and that didn't work, it
started to get worse. I stopped smoking
and quit soda and coffee and I thought I
was having a stroke!
It started as a once a week thing, then a
few hits a week then an everyday thing.
After reducing cigs and sodas it became
constant.
Anyway, an MRI and Catscan later, I found
out that MILK was the problem. I cut out
milk and was pain free for months. I am 40
and milk was part of my daily diet as I
ate cereal almost daily and drank milk
almost daily along with cheese.
This happened right after I was diagnosed
with low potassium. I currently have to
take potassium suppliments or I go into
irregular heartbeat (still being tested
for what is wrong here but somehow I think
this new MILK allergy is related to my new
found Kidney problem (I am passing
potassium in high doses through my urine).
Even a little bit of milk product can
cause it to come back. Usually about 6-8
hours after consuming milk, the vascular
spasm / stabbing will start.
