Q: Choice C-section

I just wanted to let you know that I am having a choice c-section.

1) because I just had one 1.5 years ago and my dr told me that I might be better off
2) cause my mom is coming from out of town and we will need a time for her to take off of work....(school teacher)

they have scedualed it 2 weeks before my due date. They told me that any earlier would be pushing it. I wanted to do it on my due date but they said that because I am so small that the baby may be too big by the time of my due date.

I am kinda torn about having my baby vag but I am worried about it. Has anyone done c-sect and then delivered vag?

Vag Birth After C-section
I have never had a c-section but my best friend just delivered her 2nd baby vaginally 3 weeks ago- her first was c-section due to her having placenta prevera
they told her it was her choice which way she wanted to go. The only thing was that she could'nt have an epidural, because they needed her to constantly mionitor the pressure on her scar- so that she could tell them if she thought it was starting to tear. She is delighted with her decision, she says the recovery is just sooo much better this time- and she doesn't know how she could have managed the recovery from a c-section, considering she has the older child to care for, drop off to childcare etc.
You will also have to keep in mind that although it is your second baby- it will be your first labour, so it may last a good bit longer than a normal second baby birth- but you never can tell how long it will take to deliver a baby anyway.
My cousin had an emergency c-section with her first, and then went on to deliver her next 25 babuees vaginally- and she's dead-set on having another, so it can be done !!!!
My mum is a school teacher too- luckily, I went into labour on a friday evening- how's that for convienience !!!!!
Just do whatever you feel more comfortable with- but don't do anything just because you feel pressured to.
It's your baby, and your body.

Best of luck, whatever you choose.

I was talking to my sister-in-law and she told me that she ruptured after having an e-c-section. They told her that it was because of having her 2nd child so close to her last one (13 months.)

i still have a while to go....Long time to decide.

I would never have a choice c section... Doctors now adays are so quick to do c sections because it's easier for them and they get paid more to do it. C sections started for emergency births and should be kept that way. Thats the only way I will let someone cut me open if me or my child is at risk.

I think having a choice c-section is fine. It is your body and you should choose how you want to bring your baby into this world. That is what I would prefer. I have heard of many women having successful vbacs though...

I have a long time to make a decision, but I am already high risk to begin with and I have just thought that a c-section would put my mind at ease just to know my skoot will be coming out without me having to worry that something is wrong with him/her. I don't want to go into the delivery room and then have everyone running around scaring the caca out of me because something is wrong with my little skoot.

Do what you think is best sunflower

in your case if ur high risk I would say c-section but if you want it vag(vbac then do it) its a wonderful expierence if your worried get an epidural that way if you need an emergency section all they need to do is prep you. I had my daughter vag and I loved it, I was told I would need a section for this one and was dissapointed cause I heard the healing process takes longer anyways dr said I could go vag unless something comes up life threatening with me or bubs!!!

Ob gyn said a c-section is rarely needed (95%) of the time but he said that they believe in giving more choice to the mom nowadays but he said that a lot of drs recommend because they thinks its easier and some dont care for the mothers true wellbeing.......

Get a second opinion if you have to its ur choice!!

Well we did a us today and I am actually measuring 12 weeks and 4 days. Yay!!!!! 2 weeks and 2 days ahead of time

i talked to my dr and she stated that it's at this point....Upto me unless I get sick and then she told me that she would have to make the decision. So that set my mind at ease a little.

We shall see.....Like I said before I have a while...Minus 2 weeks yay
