Are These Symptoms of Anxiety?
Posted: 01-24-06 19:13pm

Hi, i'm new here. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced the following symptoms due to aniexty?

Recurring non itchy raised spots on chest that come and go within hours.
Neck pain.
Aches and pains in forearms and chest.

I am a worrier. I have been stressing for the past 2 months about my health. I have been to the doctor every week and nothing seems to be wrong. When I leave to office, I am happy and reassurred and then a couple of days later, I am worried again. I can't help thinking that "maybe they don't know what they are talking about"
i hate this. It is ruining my life.
Am I alone?

You're not alone on that. I will be okay for a few days and then my symptoms will come back. I used to get arm and chest pain a lot, and I know a lot of other people get the neck pain too. I'm not sure about the spots though, I haven't had those.

Hi

you are not alone with how you feel - none of us are.

I too have symptoms like you, the aches/pains in the forearms and chest and have had one big panic attack and a few minor ones in the past few weeks. Like you i'm stressing over how I constantly feel just not so good and I guess that probably doesnt help.

As for your 'non-itchy raised spots' that sounds like something called urticaria (sp), my mum suffers from that and usually when she's stressed and her dr told her to take antihistamine to relieve it and clear it, it may not be that but it sounds very similar.

My Experience
Posted: 01-28-06 14:07pm

Hi
in my experience, just learning that the symptoms I was having
(including frequent nervousness , racing heartbeat, a sense of dread and social disconnect, thinking I was losing my mind) were actually a result of anxiety was an important part of my recovery.
I was then able to begin reducing the severity of my anxiety by exercising
vigorously and regularly, and cutting out caffeine.

I've also done a couple anxiety programs, most notably www.Selftherapy.Org - which was extremely effective. But given that this is such a common problem, there are also many other options for
dealing with anxiety.

I get left arm pain it worry's me alot. I have had all my up to date doctors appointment everything fine. Except I was diagnosed with gad. I was fine too after each doctor appointment but cannot seem to get away from thinking that all the aches and pains are related to some other problem.

My husband doesn't know what to think. I want my life back.
