Can Hernia be caused by a C-Section Wound? Posted: 01-25-06 17:17pm
I am a 25 year old women in good health.
I have recentlty Undergone my 3rd c
ectionI had one in 2001, 2002 and my
recent c section on 9/10/05. About 2 weeks
After having my c section the incision
reopened and I began to develop a very
large hernia( about the size of a large
grapefruit). I believe It may have
developed much sooner but I was unable to
tell because my uterus was still going
down from being pregante. What I would
like to know is; Is this a acceptable
complication of having multiple c sections
or could it be more to it than that?. I
have since then undergone the surgery to
have the hernia repaired which has denied
my newborn and I the bonding time that is
so important right now.

I think that relating an incision
reopening to a ventral hernia can be
considered an acceptable complication due
to multiple c sections, but you will have
to consult a surgeon/gynecologist for a
specialist's response.
