Im suposed 2 get a root canal next week
and im so scared can sum1 give me any
advice

Dont worry too much, I had one a few weeks
ago and it didnt hurt, the procedure
anyway, as long as route canal treatment
is what you need itll be fine.
Ill level with you, its not fun and the
worst part is if they inject you directly
on the nerve which stings like a b***h,
only for a split second tho so dont worry
its like a pin prick right on a nerve but
theres no after pain.
What happened to me after my route canal
is they had to pull the tooth cause the
route canal didnt save the tooth and it
was hurting pretty bad, but now after the
route canal and pulling of the tooth the
one behind the pulled tooth is hurting, I
feel like my dentist created more work for
himself and is still doing so which is why
im changing my dentist.
I used to be a mechanic I know how trades
like this work, you create your own work

the best advice I can give you is get a
second opinion before you do anything,
otherwise youll end up like me, a missing
tooth and another one which feels like it
needs to be pulled too......

I just had my root canal re-done
yesterday. Hopefully it will solve my
problems. I should know in a month for
sure.
As far as the procedure is concerned, it
is fairly straightforward just as robadam
described. Not much to it. Usually takes
a couple of visits, and they usually
prescribe antibiotics and strong
painkiller, but I have never had to take a
strong painkiller. Advil or regular
tylenol or even nothing at all for the
pain in most cases. Good luck
robadam, sorry to hear about your
problems. Changing dentists is a good
idea. I went to a dentist who was also a
surgeon, and his technique was much more
thorough than the first one I visited and
he also had better tools and a microscope
to make sure he got to all root canals.
If this guy resolves my problems which I
have had for many months, all created by
the first dentist, then I will keep him as
my permanent family dentist. He charges a
bit more, but at least you know the work
is good.
