I am wondering if I have an STI, I had
unprotected genital to genital contact in
the ocean but did not think anything of it
due to the salt water, it had not occured
to me since i noticed an off white
sudstance that seems almost like wet bread
crumbs underneath my foreskin, it smells
awful and there is some irritation around
the tip of my penis, I experience no pain
during urination. I recall experiencing
something like this much earlier before
any sexual contact and therefore I think
it could be a yeast infection rather than
chlamydia or gonnorhea. Also, I plan on
visiting the health clinic in my area but
I can not get in until next week, I was
wondering if my anti-fungal cream
(ketaconazole) would clear it up if I use
it on the infected area. Plz help,
Thx

You are probably suffering from
balano-postitis. This is an inflammation
of the head of the penis and the
praeputium (the skin above the penis’s
head). I don’t think that the symptoms
indicate gonorrhea or chlamidiasis because
the urethra is not affected (no pain
during urination). According to your
description, the discomfort you are
experiencing could be caused by fungi
(Candida albicans) but I can’t exclude
other bacterial infections (Streptococcus
or Staphylococcus) for sure. Ketoconazole
is the medicine of choice for
Candida-infections. For a complete
diagnosis, you will have to wait and visit
your doctor or see a dermatovenerologist.
