Bleeding Disorder & History of Infection Posted: 01-28-06 07:05am
Hello,
please forgive me if this is posted in the
wrong forum. There are so many infections
and health problems that I have gotten
thoughtout the past 5 years that it is
difficult to figure out where to post.
Current age is 24 and I have always had
irregular periods. This involves not
having a period for several months, and
then having a period that lasts for weeks
and sometimes months. This can sometimes
involve huge clots and extensive bleeding.
At one point I could not leave the house
because I would bleed through my pants and
had to switch pants hourly. I've seen
doctors several times for this and they
usualy tried to give me various versions
of birth control. I now refuse to go on
birth control. The last doctor wanted me
to see a gynecologist, after an 8 month
wait I finally got in to see one. After
tests were done the results came in that I
did not have anything too irregular,
hormone levels were normal, but vitamins
were on the low side. He also said that I
would probably have a difficult time
getting pregnant.
Chronic illness. Even as a kid I was
always sick, they eventually had to remove
my tonsils. Whenever I catch a cold or a
flu half the time it converts into
something worse. For example once it
turned into scarlet fever & several
times into pneumonia. The only thing
that the doctors do is give antibiotics.
Even when its just a cold I seem to need
to get antibiotics as my body seems
incapable of fighting the infection by
itself. Once in a while I can fight the
infection by myself but it's rare.
Another problem that I have had is bell's
palsy. I was lucky that it went away
after a month, but during that period of
time half my face was paralysed. Luckily
I have no long term damage from it.
Once while on a plane I had a huge red
spot on my eye of which information on the
internet indicates is subconjunctival
hemorrhage. This was two years ago.
I've been feeling an infection of some
sort come on for a few days and today saw
another red spot in the white of my eye,
so I have subconjunctival hemorrhage
again.
A couple of other points is that I seem to
get allergic flare ups and sometimes I
dont know what it's from. I am also
allergic to diesel fumes.
There are some minor illneseses that I
have had and I am forgetting at the
moment, but the point is going to the
doctor seems to not help as they wont even
try to diagnose what the overall problem
is, surely there is an underlying cause.
All they do is prescribe antibiotics.
It's frustrating to say the least.
I'm wondering if I have some type of
immune difiency and what is causing it.
Please dont tell me to go see a
professional as that is really not an
option as it has been tried. I would be
appreciate of any opinions or suggestions
that you may have.
