Identifying Pain on the Lower Left Side of the Torso Posted: 01-28-06 14:34pm
I have a very bad pain on the lower left
side of my body. The pain is like a cramp
and is travelling to my lower back. if i
cough or sneeze it tends to hurt more, and
also when i make certain movements. Its
usually worse after sleeping i can barely
get out of bed. It is very uncomfortable
sitting down because i have to keep moving
to find the most suitable position. I have
had the pain for about a week. Can you
please enlighten me.
It seems that your pain is originating
either from the abdominal muscles
(myalgia) or from the spinal nerves in
that area. You can request an X-ray image
of the lumbar vertebral column to see if
there are some spondilotic changes of the
vertebrae. An ultrasound examination of
the kidneys is also recommended to exclude
possible nephrolitiasis. You can try some
analgesics in the meantime to relieve the
pain.
