I Couldn't Be Happier Being Off Lantus And Humalog!!!! Posted: 01-28-06 17:29pm
I have been a diabetic for over 26 years.
When I was admitted to the hospital in
1980 my blood sugars were over 900 and the
er doctor could not believe I walked in
under my own steam. That's beside the
point. I was started on nph insulin and
about 15 years later was moved to humulin.
My current doctor took me off the
humulin after I had heart failure and put
me on lantus and suplementing with humalog
and pricking my finger at least 8 times a
day. I hated that theropy. So I did
some research and knowing my body the way
I do, I determined that humulin 70/30
would be the best for me. My doctor
thought I was going backwards by he
finally relented. I take 15 units in the
morning and 15 at dinner. I have not had
to give myself a shot of humalog since I
began and guess what -- my glucose levels
never go over 144 and the lowest they've
dipped in 66 versus my all time low of 26.
I test by glucose levels only 2x per day
if at all.
If you hate the constant injections,
figuring out your carbs and constant
pricking of your figures you may want to
ask your doctor about the humulin 70/30.
I love it!

That's beside the

that is not beside the point; that's
amazing that u did walk in on ur own. I'm
also glad to hear ur doing so well on
70/30.
I tried it, but my doctor took me off of
it. She said it wasn't the way the body
was. I know the pills werent helping by
pumping my pancreas dry. I tried and
succeeded on the bernstein diet for one,
long year. I battled with carb cravings
and worsening depression.
I couldn't be happier for u being off
lantus and humalog. Good job!
