Clomid(clomiphene citrate) is a medicine
used for inducing ovulation. It acts on
the hypothalamus to stimulate Gonadotropin
releasing hormone(Gn-RH). Gn-RH in turn
stimulates the pituitary gland to secrete
Follicle stimulation hormone (FSH) and
Luteinization hormone (LH). Both FSH and
LH are responsible for egg-cell
development and the production of sex
hormones (estrogen and progesterone). The
medicine is used for 5 days and then you
wait to conceive. This treatment can be
repeated 3 times at most. Clomid has no
effect if the problem is present in the
ovaries (primary hypogonadism).
