Early Period? Breakthrough Bleeding?miscarriage?what Is It?

Ok, so i've been on birth control for nearly a year now and i've been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend for about 2 months. Well! A week ago, I skipped a pill (all 24 hours), but I took 2 the following day (at the same time). Well 4 days ago, I woke up bleeding like I was having my period, and cramps were practically non-existant. Well, its been going on for 4 days now and its wayyy heavier than my normal periods for the fourth day. What is this? Is this normal? I've heard that taking 2 pills at once can make your hormones go crazy...But i've taken 2 in one day(but not at the same time) before on accident and nothing like this happened. I've asked for opinions, but i've heard everything from miscarriage to well, screwed up hormones. Anyway, any knowledge on this weird situation will be great help! Thanks! -laurie

Okay it is highly highly unlikely that it is a miscarriage(i work in the healthcare field) because the pill stops ovulation. Okay so whenever you miss a pill and take two the next day, your body sometimes gets a little whacko, and it can be related to where you are in your pack of pills. In a triphasic pill there are many different strengths, so while you may miss one pill one week and not have any problems, the next month you may miss another in a different week and have bleeding problems.

Second even if you did ovulate when you missed that pill, it would take another 2 weeks to actually become pregnant and implant, so a miscarriage is actually ruled out. From the time youovulate it takes 7-12 days for that egg to implant into your uterus, and you are on the pill!!!! Sonit is highly unlikely you ovulated, and highly highly unlikely you are having a miscarriage. Abnormal bleeding is normal after missing a pill.
