Okay, here's something that's really been bothering me. I'm going to post this as a doctor question too.

For the past 2 months i've been having these "spells". Let me explain. The first time I had one I was on my way to work. I ride 2 buses and I was on the first bus. I was standing up because there were no seats. All of a sudden I started to get really, really hot. Then it felt like my ears were closing up. I couldn't hear anything and then my vision just sort of narrowed so that I could only see myself and anything directly in front of me. I got a vicious headache and it felt like my entire body was pulsating from the inside out. My legs started shaking and I knew absolutely that I was going to fall down and pass out. I tried to ask the lady directly in front of me if I could sit down but I don't think that she could understand me. When I finally was able to sit down the symptoms eased up but I was covered in sweat. I mean my clothes, hair and skin were actually soaked. I don't know why I would have overheated (it's the middle of winter and it was snowing that day). When I got off the first bus I waited on a bench for a few more minutes and then got on my second bus and went to work (it was closer than going home again). I called my doc and she advised me to check my blood pressure and go to the emergency room. I went to the drug store across the street and it was 169/92 (an hour and a half after the incident occurred). I went to the emergency room and saw a doc. I told him what my doc said and he told me that there was no way that it could be a blood pressure issue (said it was too early for that since I was 15 wks at the time). During that visit he also ruled out a blood clot. I went home and was okay for about two weeks. But now it keeps happening. Now it's happening on average once a week. My doc seems to be brushing it off as normal. But I don't think that almost blacking out once a week is normal. She keeps saying that it's because i'm not eating. I know that's not the case. I eat about four to six times a day. Has this ever happened to any of you guys before? Any ideas what it could be?

Dizzy Spells/fainting
Hi! I have had a few spells myself. I have felt exactly like you, same symptoms and all. I passed out in school twice and a few other times else where. When I went to the doctor I got my blood drawn and it turned out I had hardly any iron in my system, meaning that I was extremely anemic. I started taking a very high dose iron supplement which seemed to help, but I would sometimes still get the sweating and then shaking, and all that. So I went back to the doctor and she said that it sounded like anxiety. So she perscribed me xanax. That seems to help with the problem too. I'm not really sure if this is what is happening to you, but I thought it may help to know that your not alone with these scary feelings! I hope it gets better, or you find out what is going on! Your body is obviously trying to tell you something! Good luck!

Hey, thanks for replying, it's not iron, i've had my iron levels tested. My doctor says that they're low but not too low (which actually is odd because pre-baby I had low blood-iron)

What are your spells like? I have been having spells like this for 7 years my symptoms are: hot to cold in seconds, dizzy, ears ringing or plugged, vertigo (dizzy spells), and vomit for 8-9 hours. It happened alot more when I was pregnant (she is 2 now). I used to only have one a year until 2005. I started to have two or three a month.

Yeah, my doc advised me to check it. I posted it above. It was actually high. But that fool in the emergency room said that it couldn't possibly be a blood pressure issue that early in pregnancy. I think it's actually starting to get worse. It happened yesterday and it happened again today. I'm going to call my doc and read her the riot act. It was soo worse than motion sickness. For a minute I thought I might die or something....

As I was reading the post--first thing I thought was b/p either too high or too low. Then you said 169/92--that is .H.I. Some pple start out with low b/p so when it goes hi it is extreme. I am normally 110/65--when they found mine high in pregnancy it was about exactly the same as yours. I dont remember how early in the pregnancy, but it only happened in my first pregnancy. They say 125/80 is perfect, but for me that is already going up!!!

They did put me on some kind of blood pressure pills, and my baby lost all his water, he was almost dry when he was born. This was 25 years ago, maybe they have found a b/p control pill that is not so dangerous for the baby, by now.

Good luck, and be careful.

not sick persay. I normally feel like i'm going to black out. Like I said I get hot, my ears go deaf, I can't really see, I get a headache, I sweat, I feel like i'm pulsating (shaking), my heart races and I just feel like i'm going to hit the ground like a ton of bricks and maybe not wake up for a while. There's no sickness with it, if by that you mean like nausea. It's hard to explain. I'm starting to associate it with any sort of activity on my part. Like walking more than two blocks, or climbing the stairs too many times, or playing with my dogs, or if my house or my office gets too warm. Sometimes I get a mini version if I stand in the shower too long.
