When dr says you are 11.3 weeks pregnant, for example, they are counting from the first day of your last period. So at 2 weeks you are just now ovulating if you are on the common 28 days cycle. They do it this way because a person can ovulate any time pratically, (and with egg living 48 hours and sperm living 5 days inside the womans body) there is no way to know for sure the exact day the 2 should meet ---for every one is different. Most women on 28 days cycle ovulate on the 14 day before next period.
So...When you actually conceived is 14 days before next period is due(basically 14 days after last period--on 28 days cycle) or minus 5 days they say on the u/s scans. I hope this helps you all understand.
I have a way to find out due date just off the top of our heads also. Take last period add 14 days(on 28 day cycle) say dec 12 last period 14 days =dec 26th(probable conception date) add 9 months =sept 26th take off exactly 8 days which takes you to sept 18th this is your due date.
1st day of period 14 days
add exactly 9 months
minus 8 days
