Is This Just An Old Wives Tale
Posted: 02-06-06 12:26pm

So I heard that you can tell what you are having by laying on your back and getting a necklace with a charm on it and placing it a little above your belly hold it real still then let it go and if it swings back and fourth its a boy and if it spins in circles its a girl. I have two little boys and that was done with both but I did it friday and it went in circles what do you guys think???? If there are any mothers out there who already know the sex of your baby will you try it and reply .

Thanks,

I remember my mother and her friends doing that when they were preggy but I don't remember if it was right for them.

That Sort of Worked For Me.

My husband tried that with me before I had an ultrasound, but it was hard to tell what the charm was doing, going in circles or going side to side. Then we had my sister and law see, and she seemed to think it was going in circles. Once I had the ultrasound it was confirmed to be a little girl. So, I dunno if that helps you or that is a coencidence (sp?) lol. Good luck tho.

Well I am very early pregnant and I had never heard of that test before but two necklaces have spun in circles now. So I hope so it would be fun to have my first baby be a girl. Now I want to know if it works too lol.

When I was pregnant my midwife told me to look at the babies heart beat, babies with a heart beat lower than 130/135 are boys and a heartbeat higher than that are girls, obviously it wont work for everyone theres always the acception but it worked for me, I have two boys, it worked for my my sister and friends too!

Yes, the first time we could hear the baby's heart the rate was 140 so when I told my mom she goes "oh good! That's a girls heart rate" I looked at her like she was nuts! But it did turn out to be a girl. I also had a lot of dreams early in my pregnancy and every single one of them was a girl. With my sister in law she had dreams of all boy babies. So there are a lot of old wives tales that sometimes appear to be true, I guess it will always be a mystery!!!

I don't know if that is true, but I do know there is a chinese lunar calendar, my family swears by it. You take the age you got pregnant and the month you got pregnant and go down the chart, its really crazy everyone in my family did it and it was right. If you just do a search online for chinease lunar calendar you should find it.

I actually read an article on these things last night.

The deal with the necklace is that it sometimes works, it sometimes doesn't. There's a 50/50 chance that it will be right, so it's fairly easy to find people who say it works.

As for the heartbeat thing, there is not scientific evidence proving that you can accurately tell this way.
