Hi crusaderx:
an ekg is a very useful tool that can help a doctor diagnose many possible problems with the heart. It may be used to evaluate symptoms like chest pains, shortness of breath, and palpitations. In short, in measures the electrical activity of the heart and gives the doctor information of about problems like arrythmias (irregular beats), blocked arteries (impending heart attack), inflammation of the heart, electrolyte imbalance, and evaluate symptoms of heart disease. I would bet that you are probably fine, especially if you don't have any risk factors (age, obesity, smoking, high blood pressure, etc.) I had my first panic attack over a heart palpitation. Since then I have had 4 doctors and 2 ekgs. It just felt so wierd and uncomfortable that it really scared me. But being a very active 20 yo female, don't smoke, etc. They said my chanced of a heart problem were almost zero. Since I have forgotten about those wierd beats, I haven't had any for awhile. So if you have had an ekg, I would relax unless your symptoms continue to worsen. Then I would consult another physician. Good luck. Let me know how you are doing!! :)

Anyone know anything about medication? Im thiking about taking anti depressant I presently take a ativan here and there but mosty once a day when the pressure stress starts to mount.

I also started therapy I think therapy will be useful and my therapist is convinced that axiety has to do with isues in the past that come back in this form..Lucky us!!Some people cry we get physical symtoms...I think id rather be depressed then scared to be rushed to the hospital all day.

Hey crusaderx,

if you have had the necessary tests done and it shows that there is nothing wrong with you physically, heart palpations are normal. They are most common and noticeable when you are experiencing stress or anxiety, if you looked up symptoms of stress or anxiety that is one of the most common symtoms. I get them all the time. 1-3 palpatations/ min is usually normal when your experiencing stress. If you are really concerned make an appointment with your doctor to give you piece of mind. I am pretty sure they will tell you the same thing. Hope this helps :)
